What do all of you guys think the future holds for the value of the 250r. I have a clean one listed in the for sale section that I can't even get $2000 out of. I will let sit in my shed and ride it once a year befor I "give" it away. Do you guys think the price will ever come back up?

Thanks for your input.

i think the market could pick back up...afterall there r only so many of them out there unlike a 450R...450s are going to decrease in value alot and most people will lose alot of money with them, but they r hot right now...I think once the 4 stroke fad (sp?) goes away then the R value will go back up

i agree with that right there. the prices will go back up as soon as people start realizing how sweet they are again

I really dont know man, as the R gets older, there is always something newer and possibly better to replace it. As much as I want the value to go up, there arent going to be many NEW 250r riders, besides us diehard R riders. I think its going to steady out at where its at right now.

I love the 250r just as much as the next guy but the new breed of four strokes is not a fad, they are here to stay.

IT will take a few years for the value to jump back up because i know alot of racers that sold there 250 r for 450 craz whish they still had there 250 vs the 450

You need to get it on ebay... People will drive for hours to get one. $2000.00. It's a great deal if it runs and looks ok... You can part it out and make more money, but it takes longer...

Fad? Are you high? The 4 strokes are here to stay as much as we love our R's. But to think the 4 strokes are just a fad is just plain ignorant. Look how much the 450's have evolved in just a few years. Factory support is back for christ sakes.

The market for run of the mill raced/modified 250R's will keep going down. Only die hards will be into them because new riders only go buy what's in the magazines and in dealers showrooms.
However your mint condition, completely original and stock 250R's will continue to go up in price as they get rarer and harder to find. And these ones won't get ridden, just used as collectors pieces, or classics to putt around on once a year.

i bought a 06 450r but refuse to get rid of my 250r. its about as stock as they come these days just a pipe and k&n . the 250r still out handles my 450 but the 450 is sooooooooooo much faster. i know if i ported and reeds and diff. carb but i think it will stay like it is and ill ride it once in a while . as the 450's price comes down people are not going to pay 2000 for a 250r when they can buy a used 450 for same. (if they come down that far)keep the 250 and get a 450 too dont give it away. and remember they sold new for around 1500.

i had a brand new 450R...was the first one to have it at the races the first year they came out. Then my dad picked up a 250R and i was turning up faster lap times on that then my 450. Ended up trading my 450R for a fully worked 250R which i still have. I will not let it go i love the thing. 2 strokes are just so much more fun to ride anyways....

i hope they go back up in value but who knows. Now that fuel injection is out, yamaha and honda are gonna produce one most likely within the next several years and that just makes our R's even more of a dino due to age and carberation. It could go both ways theres really no way to tell

i dont think you will see many 450s around in 20 years from now like you do the R and older banshees...the 2 strokes r so simple to put together and maintain, thats the key why they r still around...how many nice 350Xs do you see?? they were produced the same year as 86 Rs...4 strokes run great for a while but the older ones are much harder to maintain compared to a simple 2 stroke...and with everyone going to 4 stroke i think it will make the R value go back up because there will only eb so many of them out there and they are legacys...so you can buy a new 450 for 6-7 grand and loose more then 1/2 of that money in 3 years...or buy a moidded R and ride it for 5-10 years and sell it and possible make money...thats 1 of the reasons why i bought a 310R over a 450
