90, probably not. But those are fast, i rode my uncles, and it was unbelievably fast for a utility. I can't imagine what the new 800s are like. :eek2: I don't see what you described being a problem, i would say it wouldn't get any more than 75 or less though. You shouldn't keep it pinned that long.

You so sure, you ever ride one? Hell no it wouldn't go 90 like he said, and 75 might be a little much, but it isn't that far off. I've had my buddies 400 artic cat utility up to 63ish tops, but that was pushing it to the limit. I wouldn't doubt that a praire 650 could go 70 plus tops on a good clear day, no wind, and smooth road. It might take a while to get there, pushing it of course, feathering the gas, they ain't no 450r or raptor 700. Those automatics don't do to bad...

Ya, they aren't going to be as fast a raptor, but they can top out fast as most sport quads, i think i could hit 70 with my uncles Prairie 650 on flat ground, but thats just me i guess. But those are a lot faster than people might think. They aren't a cannon like a 450, they are workhorses, but they aren't too shabby either, judging from the one i rode. ;)

fastest ive gotten on a prarie 650 was 66 and thats really pushin that engine for a long time.. they arent fast top end but they do have a lot of potential and are crazy for utilities!!

Agreed. I wouldn't mind having my uncles, it had gobs of power, and could go through just about anything. :eek2:

I don't know anything about top speed, but I know several Prairies that ran in the Iowa Harescrambles series would have no problem outrunning my 400ex in a straight line...I'm talkin 5 or 6 bikelengths in a 100 yards. Once those big V-twins are able to breath, add a CDI/ignition box, and they get the clutches sorted out in the cvt...they're nothing to mess with in a drag race.:eek2:

For the original question, when was the last time the belt was adjusted or shimmed? It might be slipping at high rpms or something...

i was talking 90 km not mph first of all and the bike has just had the carbs cleaned new belt and the clutches taken all apart and cleaned and it's like it hits a flat spot like it has lots of power untill i hit about 50-60 km and then it just kinda slowly climbs up to 90-95 km i think any other prairy works a hell of alot better then mine and i want to know why?!?!
