post some pics of your tires studded with screws or picks cause i want to stud my hds up and it's gonna take 1300 screws to do the job.

1300? Is it common to put a screw into each and every knob?

Here's a couple pictures of my stock tires . I can't remember exactly how many I put in , but I had a box of 1000 and only had a handful left over . Some of the screws are pulled out of the tire as you can see ... I leant them out to my buddy last winter after putting in all brand new screws and he decided to ride from his house down to the lake via the pavement . I wasn't too impressed and now I have to change them all again .

Oh I also forgot to mention .... the best setup for ice racing would be a set of knobby tires made for ice racing ( they hold the screws better) and a set of fast trekkers(?) on the front .

I'd recommend going with Kold Kutter ice screws and stay away from the snowmobile studs .... I've seen sled studs really screw up a rearend of a quad .

Yeah use either 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch . I used 1/2 inch since I had enough lug and it also helps keep the screws in a little better . I'f you're worried about having leaks , add a bottle of Slime to your tires .

Ya Trevor ... I have a Piece of S**t . I take off my summer rims and tires and put on a a different set in the winter ... helps keep the rims from pitting cuz of the salt and get better traction with the Blizzaks .:blah: The computer is starting to fry on the car though , and my rear 02 sensor is shot ..... gunna cost me well over $1200 to fix it . :grr:

Not a very good picture, but you can kind of see the studded kenda mxklaws, we 1 1/4" screws that are nutted on the inside of tha carcass, then the nuts are coated with winshield urethane to prevent them from backing off. Any tire with fairly thick knobs will hold studd good, unless they are a very soft rubber tire like stockers. We also had a set of cheng shin ice tires studded with 1/2" screws, they just don't have the same traction, and the screws seem get torn out easier.
