I just recently bought a new 05 450R and love it, I just brushed a tarp up against the hot pipe and now a fair size patch of plastic has melted on , has anyone else cleaned a pipe to remove melted plastic or did you wait to see if it just melted off.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

the best thing to do is leave it alone for now. ride it and the heat will break down the bond between the plastic and the pipe. it will eventually turn to dust and come off to a point where a good scrubbing will take care of it.

sounds like a good reason to put an aftermarket pipe on it...or just do what pappy said...that is good advice

Another thing that works is: Get the pipe warm and use some spray on oven cleaner. Be careful of the over spray though. Just spray on wait a minute and wipe off.

You probley wont believe this but I have had good luck with windex and steel wool. I dont know if I would do that on chrome.
