what is the proper torque i should apply to the head bolts on a 400ex.

The four head bolts or the 13 (i think) valve cover bolts?

Many people get these mixed up.

the bolts on top of the engine. well i call them the head bolts, but either way, my brother looked it up when i was gone and he got them so its done now

Just as a follow up on the valve cover bolts....

Only the larger one in the middle gets torqued to 17 ft. #'s as per the manual. The rest just get snugged up. Another source of confusion.:)

all the ones spread around the head are 7ft/lbs, and the middle one is 10ft/lbs

put some blue, medium grade threadlocker on each bolt also
