I was checking my 400 for a ruitine maintinence yesterday, and when i lifted up on my haldbars, there was play in it which i could pull it up a little bit. Why could this happen? Is it bad? Do i just tighten the steering stem bolt or something so it tightens back up, or wont that make it tight? I am pretty sure it is the handlebars and the steering stem.

the bottom bushing is worn. you may be able to tighten it a little, but it will most likely need to be replace. they are easy to change and pretty cheap too.
