would there be much of a good difference with the highest comp piston that runs on pump gas is that like 11.5.1

yeah there would deffinite difference. it ill giv eyou more power, not as much as a 416 or 426, but still a noticable difference. it will a big difference if you put a cam in at the same time.

Is there a reason you are dead-set on the stock bore?

First off, the cost really isn't significant. The piston and gaskets are probably the exact same price, so the only money you would save is $60 on a bore job.

The stock piston is cast, but most likely the high-comp piston is going to be forged. They don't have the same tolerances, generally you need a little more clearance with a forged piston. In my opinion, it's best to go with a fresh bore/hone to properly set the clearances. Start with a clean slate.

There's nothing that says you have to go maximum size and use all your overbores. If you want to save some of them overbores, then just go the next size up (I believe it's a 406). This will still give you plenty of overbores for future use.

Like underpowered said, it's best when combined with an aftermarket camshaft. The higher compression will boost the low-end power, and the camshaft boosts the high-end power.

Why stock bore? If you think it is cheaper, you are only right by about $50. For both you need a piston, gaskets, and a hone job. For a big bore the only other thing you need is a bore job.

IMO, for as much of a job it is to have everything taken apart you might as well make it bigger.

if your going to put a piston in I would go ahead and bore her out...but I have just barely bored to 406 and w/ a 11:1 compression piston, stage 2 hotcam and the rest of the stuff in my sig....and I love the thing!:D

neither. it is just a 416 or 426 will rev quicker than a 440. a 416 revs slightly faster than a 426 jsut because there is less mass and air for the engine to move every revolution. i say do a 406, unless you feel really ambitious then go with a 416 or eve a 426. Go big or go home.:D

What is the overbore considered for a 416? Is this a .020 or......? Thanks. Getting ready to buy a piston and cam myself.

not worth the 50 bux for a bore there isnt a huge noticeable difference. i have a stock bore with high comp piston and cam and ive out run 426 and 440s so save the 50. but i have heard if your going to bore it 426 is the way to go not sure why but just what i have heard but you would want to resleeve because the cylinder is pretty thin and will get hot real fast
