You have had a 300 since you were seven.:eek2: That is a lot of motor for a seven year old. Way too much motor. I would either get another 300 or a 400 but do not go with the 450. It has a ton of power and you could not race it. It is big and fairly heavy. I do not think you are legally allowed to have one because you are so young.

a 450r is roughly 50 lbs lighter then a 300ex... and if he has had a 300ex for 7 years im sure he would be able to handle 450.

haha completely wrong in every way... dude you can handle a 450 for sure.. and theres nothing legal about it.. the age 16 warning label is just that.. a warning.. not a law.. and with practice you could race it.. and like standard said its already lighter than your 300... if i were you i wouldnt get anything other than a 450.. well unless you made a 400 into a hybrid :p

no you could not race a 450 in any ama sanctioned race until you are 16.

I disagree. The kid is 14 and wants a 450? My buddies that are 40 can't even handle them, they say its to nuts for them.

Ok, he had a 300 since he was 7 but did he actually ride it?

And you said illegal for a 450, its the same illegalness it is with a 300ex.

I'd never by you a 450 bro, to young and small.

no it is not illegal at all to have a 300when you are 13 and up. I have a 300 and i am 13 and it is perfectly legal.

I would get a 450 if I were you personally. People over estimate these quads really badly..... if you can ride a dirtbike or fourwheeler and know the fundamentals, they should be no problem. If you are looking for something a little more trail oriented and like similar riding styles, then I would have to say 400. The best advice that I could give you in your decision would be to sit on various quads to see which suits you best.... if you know someone that would let you ride one, even better.

whoever said they have adult friends that say it's too much for them, well then those adults are just like half the adults I know, they're pansies. My friend who was like 12-13 at the time, not even 100 lbs yet, I think he's like 85 ( he's a very small kid) He went from a polaris trailblzaer 250 ( NO power at all) and jumped right on a z400. So if a kid like him can take a z400 no problem, and a grown adult cant take a 450, well I dont know what to tell you.

Kid who started the thread- If you are an experianced rider on quads, go try finding a friend or something that has a 450 of any kind, ride that, but if you're experianced I'm sure you can handle 450 fine. Hey if it's too fast, just ease up on the throttle:devil:

I love it that most everyone that has told this kid to not go with a 450r rides a 300ex or 400ex. If you dont know what your talking about how can you judge the performance of one of these machines?

Are you kidding me?

Look on the front left fender, where it says 16 AND UNDER in a circle and a cross meaning, If you are under 16, don't ride it.

It is "illegal" more like not recomended and if a minor gets hurt on one they can't sue the company.

Don't tell us it isn't when its right in front of your face!

basically the under 16 deal means that u can't sue them if the kid under 16 can't sue the company if they get hurt on it. for example we had a kid aroun here that was 6 years old on a 500 cc 4x4 suzuki and he got killed and his parents tried to sue suzuki and instead of them gettin money they ended up gettin sued by them. and it was defenently the parents fault because the kid WASN'T wearing a helmet and WASN'T being supervised. and even at that a 6 year old sure as hell shouldn't be riding that big of a quad by themselves at that age. :huh

Exactly. Stock 450s are pretty easy to handle. Now, as you grow into them more and more, you can add more and more stuff to them to make it the quad that everyone thinks they are stock. As everyone has stated, if you can get one, there is no reason why you should not go for it. Trust me, in the end you won't regret it!

On the 16 y.o deal i agree that its just a recommendation... I started riding my bayou when I was a third grader. I never had any problem. It was totaled when I was in the fifth grade - but I wasn't the one driving - I was riding on the back. The person who was driving had very little experience with quads. I think its all in the experience. If I was 14/15 and had to ride around a 90 I would be bored sh*tless.

Now for Zack, instead of jumping from a 300ex, I would recommend a trx400ex for a while, then after a couple more years go the the 450.

I def. say 450. As long as you know what you're doing and hhave some commen sense you'll be fine. PLus, by the time your 16 and can race it, or whatever the age is, you'll be a pro on it.
