sand the rust out ( or sand blast it) and repaint it

Just what he said. And make shure that you get out all the rust, if there are some pits, make shure they are gone before you put paint back on it, or the rust will just come back. Your other option, and the best one is to strip down the frame and have the whole thing powdercoated.

Thanks guys i think the strip down and powder coat option is the best. Is it hard to do a trx450r? Can most of the parts come out in groups?

If you have never dissassembled an atv, the first thing you need to do is get a manual, label parts and screws. If you dont do it now, your gunna have to do it later.

ya its fairly easy, i kno my ex i took the whole swingarm off without even taking the back wheels off. the hardest part for me was taking the steering off. id get a manual tho. as far as small rust spots just sand them done and put a couple coats of spray paint on.
