was this part on the motor before? or was it in a box with motor parts?
that doesnt look like any washer in the motor, and i tore the motor apart in my head transmision included and could not think of a place that could go.

I have a 86 all apart right now gettin ready for a 330 esr jug, Yukon gears in the trans and all that, I haven't come across any washer like that. That is a thick washer for how thin it is in diameter.

Can't tell the size from the picture but it may be the Kick starter shaft washer. Those are usually copper but you never know what you will find in a 20 year old engine that has been rebuilt several times. I have found some funky stuff myself.

Here is another pic. It isnt a kickstart washer and it is so big it doesnt fit on anything like a tranny shaft or kickstart. I got the motor in a huge box and it was completely tore down. Thanks for all of the help. I have tore down many 250r motors and i have never seen this washer.

thats a BS washer, has nothing to do with the motor internally.......

It maybe a front sprocket shim. Most front sprockets were thicker where they mounted to the transmission output shaft. If your sprocket is not thicker, It may go behind there.

Good call on the sproket shim.

That is my guess on what it is. When I got my 250R, I needed to replace the chain and sprockets. The front had a spacer that looked just like that. I went with Renthal sprockets, and no longer needed the spacer.

That is a very good call but it is still too big in diameter. It is way too loose to be a sproket shim but i like your thinking.
