How To Jet?

Alright anyone that knows any thing about rejetting 400ex's or any other quad post pics and details on how to?

IF your buying a jet kit there should be directions in it. Or do you already have jets

How to install the main jet:

Your first going to need a 17mm socket and a 6mm socket with an extension. Let me first state it is not necessary to remove the carburetor. Now take your 17mm socket and remove the cap on the bottom of your carb.

After you remove the cap, feel around inside the carb with the 6mm socket until it slips over the jet. Now take that out and put in the new jet. When done, reverse steps until its back together and go test out.

jetting is pretty straight forward if you know what your doing, you should have an idea how it was runnign before it shoulda been running great, , but with pipe and other increase air mods you need to rejet ideal differnt filter, carb, exhaust ect, you are going to need quite a few spark plugs, run wtf(wide open throttle) then shut off, take a look at your spark plug if its tanish your good to go you are looking for a tanish color on the spark plug that means you have good jetting, alot of ppl like to jet a little bit rich, but i like spot on, always remeber when temps change it can effect your jetting/performance,i found out the hard way at my first race i was jetting to low and ran like crap popping not reving out all the way ect, all in all i ended up placing 2nd, but if the jetting was correct i might have had a shot at 1st place, jetting is the key to performance

heres a shot of the 400ex carb!! there you can see the jets, and this will give you an idea of what everything looks like! i know when i first opened up a carb, my eyes just went wide! you gotta start somewhere though, and this site has some great info!:D
