Gearing for XC racing

I am looking for opinions on gearing for XC racing. I have a 330 kit and running 20" tires on the rear. Right now I have my gearing at 14/38. I'm just wondering if it is too tall for XC racing or not.

Just put a CT350pv motor in my R with 13/38 gearing. I could easily lug around the woods all day in 3rd gear. I like it really well, and it was extremely fast at higher RPMs. If you ride mostly in second (tight woods), I bet the 14 tooth sprocket would be better b/c it revs out too quick with the 13.
