Other than a crank assembly and the crank bearings what other parts, as far as bearings and anything else should be replaced. Its getting a new piston, rings, pin and circlips as well. Someone who has already done this please clue me in. What should I use to flush the oil cooler? I found metal in the engine oil.

Im in the middle of doing mine. Clean out the oil pick up tube also.
Its really just the crank and the two main bearings.
Did you get the new updated crank or the old crank.
The new pn# is 13090-hp1-315

Change the counter balancer bearings and look at your shift drum and shift forks. Also look at all the transmission gears. Check for busted teeth and worn or chipped gear dogs. You'll need to specialty tools. Flywheel puller and a four prong socket for the nut on the counter balancer shaft. You may could make the four prong socket by cutting up a regular socket.

Im gonna get the new updated crank, my thoughts on it is its updated for a reason so for the extra $192. I might as well. Im gonna get the counter balancer bearings as well. I just want it to be done. My only fears are it blowing again in another 2 years.
