Hey yeah i know this may be a stupid Question but. What is the Difference between a 10 speed trans in a semi and a 13 speed. Is it just that it has more low end, or is it capable of being faster then a 10 speed more high end cause of more gears. I know when driving a 10 speed you shift from high to low from 5 to 6 gear, so how would that be on a 13 speed.

THANKS:rolleyes:

I am no expert but I think a 13 speed is used to carry heaver loads. 13 gears allow you to shift sooner and get up to speed quicker it also allows for the gears to be shorter and have better acceleration while carrying heaver loads. I know somebody on here can explain this better than I can.

It could depend, either the gearing is lower, for pulling, closer ratio'd for pulling heavier loads, or possible for the speed factor.

I know trucks that run through the mountains have 15 and even sometimes 17 speed transmissions. Lower ratios definately help them, same theory applies...
