Set off my First Alarm today!

Well, I heard you could set off car alarms with loud pipes, but I had never done it, Well, today when I pulled out of my parking space at kroger, there was a nice lexus suv beside me, and BAM, it started going crazy, Immediatly I knew what did it, and I got a big 'ol grin on my face! Now I know its possible!

yup, been there, done that. It is pretty cool knowing that it is not just a myth. my truck does it alot at school, tight quarters for parking.

My dad can go down thru like downingtown pa and philadelphia on the harley and just crusing along he sets everyones off lmfao..

Its fuggin awesome.. I guess thats what 10 g's worth of motor work gets you :devil:

I set off a cadillac escalade with my truck a couple days ago. and i set an excursion off once and a lexus. its a pretty good feelin when u kno ur the one that did it too.

I've done it a few times with my stang!:p One time I was by an Escalade and I pulled up next to it and the alarm went off, then after awhile the alarm shut off, so I just barely tapped the gas pedal, and the alarm went crazy again! Then the owner of the Escalade came out of the store and he was p*issed!

oops i ment 5.4. im stuck with 4.6:ermm: i want the flowmast 40 series but they say they only make them for the 5.4. So im told the closest thing i can get to the 40 series is the the 50 series. but i want the 40

Not true, you can run the 40 series on your truck; has nothing to do with engine displacement. Just need to get the right muffler for the right pipe diameter. I have a 40 series original (make sure to get the original) with the Single inlet, Dual outlet in 2.5". I'm positive the 4.6 has 2.5" pipes as well. You can also go single in/single out if you only want a single tip, just depends what you want. Just go to your local muffler shop and have them bend up a set to your liking! ;)

Also if you decide to put tips on it, go Stainless Steel! I have two 21" long stainless tips in 3.5" diameter. Gives a much deeper throatier tone to the exhaust note. Chrome will rust out and look like *** in no time trust me...

Cool, you should like it. Even better if they're mandrel bent. Keep in mind the muffler will "break in" over time and become a little louder. It is a good louder though lol.

doesnt mandrel bent mean that the bends are smooth and not "krinkly" looking. Does anybody know why the 40 seeris is not made for the 4.6? ther has to be some gay reason

is there a big difference in sound from the original 40 and the super 40 and ive never set off alarms on cars with my car hopefully wene i get my flowmasters i can but i can set of alamrms with my cousins blazer with his system(speackers , woofers)

hahaha are you serious? My dads bike can just sit there and idle and it sets off the canyons :D

it might be him he just got 4g's in porting/cam/headwork etc done to it and they had it on a dyno and were testing it.

i know a few guys with Z71's (this is chevy town lol), and they've got true dual straights..............and omg, its the best sound ive ever heard in my life. i hope to get a z71 soon, and i dont care if it has flowmaster 40's or whatever, but im rippin that sh^t off and gettin true dual straights to stainless steel tips, angled out the back......aint nothin like it

i know this is off-topic but...i was wandering about something. i have an 89' Ranger 2.9 V-6. i want it to be louder but not an obnoxious loud fart can sound. just to hear the tone. i don't really have the money to invest in headers and a catback system. is there a cheap way to make it sound a little better? i was thinking just take the muffler off and run one of those Magna Flow hollow fart can ones. but i don't want it to be too loud. thanks.

my buddy at school drives a 01 silverado with a 383 and magnaflows, he drives around the lot and drops in in Neutral and sets off about 10 car alarms a day.

He wants to swap them out for flow hugh powers. They will be even louder:eek2:

the security guards at my old college used to hate me.... every single day when arriving or leaving class.....I would set off alarm after alarm. I would be walking to class and the whole parking area would be flashing lights and honking and sirens sounding...I guess I always announced when I finally made it.

I used to really set the alarms off when I had the 3" turndown... with the duals coming out the back I dont set them off as much but still quite a bit.

I guess the combo of the Tundra and a Flowmaster just doesnt do well with car alarms? I dont even try to set them off really... oh well

My friend has True Dual Straight pipes to. Only he has them on a Ram 1500. They sound great he always sets off car alarms.

On my truck I have true duals, with dual imco muffers, through 3" pipe and 3.5" tips. Sounds pretty good. I still might consider going with flowmaster 40's or just strait pipe it one of these days... I had a muffler shop do mine, and for $428 I got the whole setup (tips, mufflers, pipe, labor) with all the seams welded!

im running a flowmaster 40 series with no cat and 3" pipe and the way back to 2 stainless 4" tips on my silverado with 350 5.7, boy does she grunt

i only set off a car alarm once, it was from teh subs in my old s10. and it was only 2 10" P1's

I'm bashing lately because I work for a graphic design company and I spelled the name of the company wrong I did the mag ad for, and it went to print. Yeah. It'll be better in a week or so when it blows over. I'm just pissed cause it was 100% my fault and it almost cost me a great opportunity . So I take it out on people on the internet :rolleyes: :p
