I'm going to have to sell this bike. Just bought a Z400. I bought this bike last year from a coworker who has owned it since new. Since then I've ridden it a couple of times, but never really got into it. Too fast for me. I like the four stroke power better.

Will consider trades too, for a 400ex, Z400, CRF230, or DR200.

There is nothing wrong with the bike except some surface rust on the a-arms and rear axle, and a 4 inch crack on the front left fender. Very minor wear. I don't think the original owner used it much. It's in awesome condition for its age, especially since everything is original. That's the tread on the original tires! It's on the original bore. Frame is in great shape, no cracks. Easy to start and runs great. I'm hoping to sell it to someone that knows alot about these machines, keep it stock and maybe fully restore it. Won't take much to make this classic back to its original beauty.

Put it on ebay......i've seen the 86 and 87's in that kinda shape go for around 4500 give or take a little depending on where its located.

Do you think it gets more or less on the west coast? Seems like more east coast guys like the R's.

Id say if you clean that thing up real nice, and shine it up you'd get prolly around $4,000 maybe a couple hundred less, maybe a couple hundred more. From what i've seen, the market for the origional ones seems to be high everywhere except the midwest or the extreme south. With you out on the west coast, i'd say you're gonna get a lot of interest from the dune guys. Ebay is most likely your best bet.

Took you guys' advice and put it on ebay. Hopefully it will sell, this auction wasn't cheap!

They do sell good on the west coast, dont know if you will be able to get 4000 though. Its a shame they lost thier value like they did, in my opinion still one of the greatest quads ever made. Good luck selling.

I'm not really looking to get $4k for it. Actually a lot less than that, but Buy It Now was only $1 extra, so it doesn't hurt to try.

that really sucks..didn't sell on ebay. only got 2650, and my reserve was 3000. I thought it would get $3k at least.

Yeah i know...can't believe no one wants a clean 250r anymore. Will consider trades too, for a 400ex, Z400, CRF230, or DR200.

You are right about the east coast guys. Im over here in NC and would be interested in this machine if it were not 2000 miles away. Good luck on the sale, that bike looks very clean. Its hard to find them in that condition now days.
