my bro and i put the HRC power up kit i have in my 05 450r. The quad started and ran which i was happy about. Only thing is that it runs wayyy to rich. We did the jetting just like the kit said. pilot stays stock, put in the new needle on the 3rd clip and put in the 185 main. At idle it pops a lil, shoots flames sometimes and will even stumble and stall after you rev it up. along with not being able to turn the idle as low as i want to because it stalls out. So im pretty sure its to rich. Only other engine mod besides the kit is a uni filter. Exhaust is stock. Id really like to know what other people have there 450r's with mods are jetted at. Someone pretty close to sea level also. since i live here in NJ by the shore. I did get a 180 main jet to try but i didnt put it in yet. So i guess if anyone has any info that would help that would be great. thanks! (i also plan on doing a sparks racing pipe in the future)

i was previously running a 160 and it was dead on with the same mods. that was before the cam, but i dont think it makes that big a difference on jetting. the 180 i was running was WAY too rich and would just fall on its face towards the top

are you running the hrc lid too or the stock one? my bike ran best with around a keihin 180 mainjet in after the cam install and the hrc lid. i also had a full pipe on it as well. how many turns out on the fuel screw are you?

Yeah everything that comes in the kit is on. Lid, cam, etc. To be honest i dunno if he messed with the fuel screw or not. So puttin in the 180 main and messing with the fuel screw and it should run pretty good?

Not sure if this helps.

I run at 1000ft. I have a full trinity exhaust and k&n kit. I run with my lid off/187 jet/5th position on stock needle/2 3/4 turns of fuel-air screw. I would set your screw to 2.5 turns.

Yeah all the responses are a help. Im gonna put in the 180 main jet and mess with the fuel screw till it sounds right. Does anyone know how many turns the fuel screw is stock? I dunno if its different for elevation changes.

The valve clearances stay the same as stock. We checked everything out. Only my exhaust valves were out a hair. But its the same as stock. I have a hotcams shim kit. Got it off ebaynew for 50 bucks.
