Scoops will do alittle bit. Also a new oil cooler, the kind you drill into the head. Search around you can find some articles on it.

a 416 will run a little hotter but as long as it is jetted correctly it wont overheat. if you are that worried about it jet it a little rich, add a secondary or larger oil cooler. keep the compression low (at or below 11:1), or just keep it stock bore. the 416 wont get that hot, it is mainly 440's that overheat and cause problems.

Synthetic Oil will help it out...

Also a higher octane gas.

Desert Toyz ATV makes a bolt-on oil cooler for the 400EX which is 3X the size of the stock cooler and mounts in the stock location. They call it their Supercooler system. Comes with new cooler, lines, and holds a bit more oil than stock due to the larger capacity. No drilling or tapping necessary, just bolt-on and go.

I run one on my 452 race motor and it has performed very well. Everything is cool as a cucumber  Using this in conjunction with my scoops, leaded 110 octane race fuel, and full synthetic oil, keeps this beast running at its optimum

four stroke tech makes a good secondary oil cooler for around $110 dollars and its main job is to cool off the engine head. I would go with that if anything

those seem a little expensive, for all the bigger they are.

an after market tranny cooler for a truck is bigger than those are and yet less expensive.

the oversize oil tanks help out some too, BUT a 416 jetted right shouldn't have any heat issues anyway. My 426 I have air scoops and a pingry oversize vented oil tank and have never had any heat issues.

I ran a 416 with close to 13:1 compression with a stock oil tank and no extra cooler. I never had a problem and raced XC. I used 110 race fuel and ran it in some nasty muddy tracks.

my 416 over heats when I am messing around. Moastly when doing dounuts in the snow. sometimes when I am in the sand pit.

Yeah you need to be moving along or these quads will overheat. I remember I did that on one hot 4th of July parade. All the stop and go doing 5 mph was causing it to overheat. Never again will I do that.

Doing donuts and stuff is worse because you could be spinning the tires doing about 45 mph yet the quad is only doing about 5-10 mph. What I do when I play around and stuff is play around for a little bit, then go rip it somewhere else for a while to cool her down a bit.

The only time mine starts to noticably slower, was after about 10 trips down the drag strip...

I rode for five hrs of hills, trails, sand pits, drag sunday
