I am looking to purchase a KTM520 quad. I have tried to contact different ATV companies such as Walsh Racecraft to try and purchase a chassis that will accept the KTM dirt bike motor. They are very backed up and cannot make a chassis for a long time.

I am willing to pay top dollar for a immaculate KTM520 hybrid.

I can be contacted either through email at Chrissekerak@yahoo.com

Or I can be contacted at 330-607-3584.

As long as the parts and work quality are what I am looking for, I will pay up to $ 15,000.

I am looking for a long-travel front and rear suspension, ABSOLUTLY NO OVERHEATING PROBLEMS!!!!, beadlocks or something similar.

Someone please help me out!
Thanks

I'm going through the process of having rathracing convert my predator frame to fit the 520 motor.

You may want to give them a call and see what they can do for you. I'm going to fit mine with the KTM/Walsh 250R orange plastic. Should be sweet.

what about the w-tec eraser or w/e. What were in them? I would never buy one though jsut because of the suspension setup, for those of you who know what im talking about.

I put what I am willing to spend....I do understand that some quads are worth upwards of $25g's or more.....but

for a chassis from walsh to fit the ktm 520 motor is $3k, a ktm 520 dirt bike is about $4k used, and a front and rear suspension combined would be about $5k, the other odds and ends I'd say another $5k.

So that adds up to about what.......about $17,000 that I could build one for myself.

So instead of telling me what I should do, worry about you please.

whoa whoa calm down here for a second, theirs alot of fab to build a 520 quad...the biggest problem being the chain is on the wrong side....soooooo. And on top of that are you going to be running a stock motor? And you say it will take $17,000 to build it, your out of your mind, i have a 450r with a STOCK frame and STOCK swinger, and it still took just over $20,000 to build it. AND on top of that, its standard travel up front....

Umm not sure what planet your on, but I'm looking right at a KTM 520MXC and the chain appears to be on the side of a quad, unless it's an illusion it's looks fine to me.

If you spent $20g's on a 450r with a stock frame and suspension, your crazy. A national motor would be no more than $5,000.
Add that to the $6500 sticker we're at 11,500. So were's the remaining 8500?? I would say about $16 would be right on, and that's with LT suspension. LT = long travel.

I have found a chassis so there is no need to reply to this thread.
Thank you!

just quickly...originally the quad was $7500...i got it january 10th 2004...one of the first ones in connecticut so it was pricey...the front shocks were $1000, a-arms $900, rear axle $350, rear shock $1300 w/ link, plastics $500, stem $300 w/ clamp, hipers $300, tires around $250, front rims, $150, motor $5300, right their is what $17,700? plus we cant forget wave rotors, nerfs, bars, brake lines, asv levers, bumper, grab bar, bearing carrier, sprokets, chain, air filter, powdercoating...so thats around $1900 okay lets do some math $17,700 + $1900 =$19,600...yep close enough to 20 right? i think it was worth it

yeah well when you have a $5,000 dollar motor job, money just tends to fly....and i still have standard travel elka elites on the front, and lonestar comp a-arms...but yeah i have a full dasa motor...

Not to sound like a prick, but for 5K that motor better put like 60 HP to the ground or do a whole lot more than just power the quad.

dasa head work, dasa 13.5 :1 piston, shaved head to make it a total of 14.5:1, dasa 3-angle valve job, dasa custom grind cam, oversized SS valves and springs, full crf ignition including flywheel etc, FCR carb taper bored by dasa, machined counterballance, full dasa pipe, dasa intake...im sure im forgetting some stuff, in any case its a full and complete dasa motor.....and for the record dont take this as a brag session for me, im just trying to prove my point that it will take alot for that $16,000 to build a full race quad, let alone a hybrid...

It's too bad you already found a quad ... I know where there is a Lonestar KTM 520 for sale with full Elka suspension for $12 000 Canadian . :blah:

For a stock quad, this new honda 450 moves. I had the 2005 yfz450 this past summer and it revved a little faster than the honda.

I've got an HMF being built and an HRC kit in the mail.

I believe that you are right....it does not take $20,000 to build a full race quad. You can spend 20g's pretty easy though.

It would be silly to put $5g's into a motor, when it's not really needed. A decent rider would only need about half that and be fine.

ktm makes a worked 610 motor, i am pretty sure thats what they run in there supermoto unlimited bikes, i know they make one, saw a specs sheet, i dont know if it is avalible to the public, but it is suppose to make 70+ hp
