Are there such things as modded air box lids on the market?? one that opens up but maybe has a foam filter on the top that also helps keep dirt out of your engine? silly question i know but i would like to go without the lid but i dont wanna risk hurting my engine either....

Get the EHS lid and jet it for no lid. I use one for XC racing and have never sucked any water.

You could just run an Outerwears airbox cover. Its under $20.00 bucks over at www.motosport.com.

yea i think i would go with that outerwear for the box and the filter and that should be lots of protection?

I bought one of the Outerwear covers and I didn't see any way to get it on securely without cutting on the airbox (maybe the '06 is different?), so I just ordered an EHS lid. It's expensive but you just pop it on. It doesn't get much simpler than that.

if you have the outer wears on the lid and one wrapped around the k&n filter itself thats not too much for its worth is it? i dont wnat to over do it.

There would be no airflow restriction from have a outerwear lid and cover i don't believe it would just be an extra couple of layer to filter dirt... i would almost think it would be even better no?

I guess it just depends on what you want to clean more often, the Outerwear over the airbox or your filter/outerwear.

I run the stock filter with no lid with the outerwears cover. I do not see the need to run a K&N. I feel with the lid off and the stock filter you are getting all the air it can take. Stick with the foam filter for the protection.

yea but i already have a k&n and i would like to run without the lid i just dont want anything getting in my motor.... and as for cleaning i would probably clean them at the same time? wouldn't be to strenuous i cant imagine??

i run a K&N with an outerwear, and i also have the airbox outerwear lid. i really like the lid, and i can tell there is a lot less sand in my airbox and filter since i use it. also, i do not think it restricts air. i definately reccomend using the airbox outerwear.

I run the EHS lid and an outerwears on my k&n filter. Never been a big fan of foam filters. The k&n is a lot easier to clean. I wouldnt run any other setup.
