I was interested to see what mods I can do to gain more low end power on my 04 450r. Any suggestions. Everything is stock, i dont have a huge amount to spend.

He had an 04 with yoshi exhaust, hotcam stage2 and he ran 13/39 gearing.
for more lowend you could go with stage 1 hotcam or an 02 crf cam.

A Dr. D slip-on, remove your airbox lid, a 185 main jet, drill out the tee on the crankcase breather, get a HRC needle and put it on the 3rd clip, and it will help alot.;) :D Then get a Hot Cams stage II. You'll be amazed!

A pipe and a cam is a good place to start.

HMF sport pipe will give you good bottom end plus it sounds awsome.... but i would get the quite core too if you live near people. Another bonus is the full system dosent cost that much

I have plenty of low-end power but i did it the expensive way. The cheapest way would be to lower the front sprocket to a 13t.

Take the baffle out of stock muffler to save a couple of bucks. Take air boxlid off and put a K&n with outerwear on jet it.
I thought the 02' was the same as the Hrc cam and arent they top end cams? dont no for sure.
H/c Stage 1 and 14.1 or 13.5/ 13.1 piston in. not a whole lot.
With out the baffle is just about the same as the Hrc endcap
you can put 18s and a 13tooth sproket on.
Good luck rob
hotcams stage 2 is more for top end (based on hotcams website).
i have a hotcams stage 1, but it's not installed yet.
so, i have no feedback as of now.

I was thinking about an FMF Q or Q2 pipe for the bike. I have to get the bottom end redone so in the meantime i think im gonna order that pipe. Noise is a definite issue at my local spot. I may put a cam in it when I get it back after I put a few hours on it.

I would get sparks exhaust and a 02 crf cam. Or the sparks aggrssive drop in. I think they are the same cam. That is what I did first and it was a huge improvement. Hope it helps
Rossier pipe, $389.00 complete pipe,
Rossier pipe, cost (http://www.*********.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48)
if you want more bottom end you can go with this set up. I ran a arena cross here in Canada that was really tight. I had 13/40 gearing with a stage one hot cam 18 inch tires and a hmf full pipe. i could do my holeshots in second gear no problem and could really haul *** through the whooops and out of corners. Well my bike is a full motocross bike but that is the stuff that gave me the bottom end power.

A one tooth smaller countershaft sprocket will be the cheapest mod, other than removing the airbox lid.

dude, that's exactly what i was wanting to hear!! i already have the hmf full system. almost everyone on here, always goes with the hotcams stage 2. not sure why that is........hopefully i won't be disappointed with my stage 1. i think i'm going to add a 11.5:1 piston too, when the money is available.
