I am posting for a friend who is having a problem with his son's 90. He recently bought a Predator 90 and removed the restrictor plate/rev limiter????? Now when the bike is run at full throttle the oil light comes on until the throttle is released. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening or any suggestions that may help????

It's 1 month old so I would say and 05/06 model.

I'm going to ask a stupid question but how much oil is in the tank?
I just remember when I had the oil injection on, if the oil dropped just a little the light would go on and off, but removing the rev limiter should in no way effect the oil light.
Unless the pump can't keep up with the higher rev but still the sensor only measures whats in the tank.

Best thing he could do is remove it all together imo, but that is another topic, good luck.

Edit: Just for trail and error have him put the rev limiter back on and check it.

ours is a 03- when we took it off we also had to change out the cdi box to a aftermarket. stock cdi box still had a switch that governs to rev limiter which also made lights come on. Not sure with the newer models & all the mods done to ours for racing. but I will ck tommorrow with our mech, hopefully I will have some news for you

Thanks 250XDude and Quad Mom 1 for the feedback. I'm on the phone with him now and hopefully we can get this thing figured out. It's an '06 model with 1 ride and the oil tank is almost completly full. We're going to try and reinstall the rev limiter and try it stock.

My son has an 05 and it has done that since we put a new hi rev cdi. It's been over a year and nothing has happened to the engine or anything. I think it just has to do with the new cdi. I'm not worried about it.

Thanks for the heads up Predator Dad. I will forward my buddy this thread so this will put him at ease. Thanks again.
