i was wondering if anyone could help me> how hard would it be to put an cr250r motor on a trx frame? and how much more power does the cr produce over the trx? i know srevice honda sells a package but they want a arm and leg for it.

dont put a cr engine in an R a cr engine doesnt have a counter balance so it vibrates like hell it does pack some more hp but its not going to be a plesant ride

I wouldnt waste time with a CR motor either, no counterbalancer, 5 speed and not that much more HP. My stock cylinder ported by LRD, 262 would smoke my buddys 96 CR 250.

I would really have to see this, if you look at my sig you'll understand why. I know it would take a heavily modded 250R to outrun my stock 96 CR. Whoever's on that CR must not know how to ride very well.

Let me put it this way the 96 CR 250 has less weight and less rolling resistance than an R, but in a straight up drag race just for fun I could pull it on my ported R. My other freind on a 03 CR 250 who is an A MX rider could stay right with me but not anything more and was real impressed by my fat couch as he called it. His CR was ported with a pipe, silencer, and V force cage. My point is a stock CR motor in an R is not going to perform as well as an R motor with just a port job.

Don't waste your time with a CR250 motor, if you want to upgrade, just look at aftermarket cylinders.

For the CR250 beating the 250R, I could believe it if it was at the dunes. I see dirtbikes down there getting smoked by Blasters. It all comes down to traction there. For the road or dirt, thats a different story and it would take a pretty hopped up R to compete with a CR250.

In theory, almost anything is possible, right? However, it would be a very expensive and difficult modification. It would require a complete set of custom cases, and special crank modifications to drive the counterbalance.

i think you could better ask the question if its possible to put a cr250r cilinder on a trx250r engine

yes you can put a cr cilinder with powervalve and electrics on the R cases donīt know what year but I saw two at least they were nice as hell, but you have to find what year and mods you have to do to it
Maybe call ESR They seem to know a lot of R mods (he would try to sell you his barrells for sure but you can try)
Is ********.net working or rriders.com?there you can find the info

An 86-91 cylinder is a direct bolt on, no case mods. A 92-02 cylinder will work with heavy case modification. But there is no way, without completely redesigning the cases and a great deal of the internals, to make the power valve setups on these cylinders work.

I don't know everyones bike is different, but my R's run real well. I have more fun in open practice running with the A dirtbikes than the guads. I love batteling with those guys because most of them think we idots to ride quads. So mabey that makes me push harder.

a bike is almost half the weight and is even (sotck vs. stock) with more power I doubt the bike runs worst than a quad

You have to play with your ability to make the mxer eat your dust
