i am considering buying a used yfz. are there any things in specific i should look at before i buy one? i have heard the 04s have electrical problems and i want to know if there is any thing else i should look for. thanks!!!

You could do a search on this and find everything you need to know.

The eletrical problem was only in a few quads, not all of them had the problem. They fixed the problem for the '06's but my '05 doesn't have a problem, you just need to run your lights on all the time which I do anyway. Also on the '04's for the decompression plug they used a plastic plug that would blow out at higher RPMs which would spill out all your engine oil. All you need to do is buy a metal plug to bolt in there and problem solved.

alright im gonna try to find a 05 cuz they seem to be a safer buy.

Yea I would definately go with an '05, there's more of a chance that it'll have lower hours and just make sure that it was taken care of. Talk to the owner and make sure he knows what he's talking about and ask how often he did this and that.

yeah, thanks for your help! ive never bought a used machine before so im hoping in can do this right
