Ho-kay , i am a newb when it comes to 400ex's... just bought mine today feb 17, 2006 and not sure whether to take some rings off the exhaust as well as the metal plate that says spark arrester on it.

What should i do. How many rings should i leave on there? How do i take off the metal plate?..........

the rings are for controling low, mid, top end power so really its how ever many you want in there but I think most people run them without any.I have 6 on mine right now and it will also control the noise a little bit depending on how many rings are in there

Taking the rings or the spark arrester plate off defeats the purpose of the pipe. I run all 12 disc's on my e-series sinse the ex 400 has tons of low end.

How many discs do you have and did you take the spark arrester plate out? HOW many discs can you have on there because on rockymountain you can buy the screws to hold up to 28 discs. Is it really true the more discs the louder it gets?\

-Thanks

If you took the spark arrestor off it doesn't matter how many discs you use:ermm:

You don't have to rejet, but of course your going to get more out of it if you do. I run mine open ended and its not to loud, i had about 13 or so in there and i still like it better with none in. I would either put all in or take everything out, thats just me though.

thanks for all of the advice i see what you mean when you say taking the plate off just defeats the purpose of the pipe but when took the plate off as well as all of the rings it sounding way nasty and when put the rings on without the plate it sounded throaty and nasty and thats the way i like it . but if there is something more to it like more rings more torq then will someone post a sound bit or tell me.
