I posted a while ago about some white smoke on my 400 ocasionally. I want to put in a stage 2 cam and a higher comp. piston. It has good power and doesn't smoke much. Would I probably be fine just running a hone in the cylinder instead of having it bored?, then the new piston, rings ect.? I would also put in new valve seals while I was in there and check to make sure they were seating and take care of any problems there also.
Depending on how much time is on the current bore, how it was run and maintained you could get by with just a hone.
There are a few things that will need to be checked; Actual wear of the bore, out of roundness and taper of the bore are a few.....

Instead of being cheap I should probably just take it somwhere and have it measured. I don't have an inside micrometer and those are pricey. That way I'd know for sure.
