Would I be better off getting the 330 kit with 12:1 comp. Or keep my order of 282 12:1. Or what I am asking is would the 330 with 12:1 kill the 282 with 12:1.

All depends on the racing style.

The 330 will have more "peak" hp and torque, but the 282 will rev faster and higher.

IMHO, a 297cc is the perfect blend. ;)

All 3 will be pretty close if they are all tuned/ported correctly.

It's not always about CC's. Look at a 1500cc harley compared to a 600cc sport bike. ;)

You also need to consider the Cam and Carb. The port and polish won't have the best performance without a bigger carb that flows better. When you choose a cam, it depends on the grind, a full race grind (wiseco) from one company may not be as good as a custom ground ( powroll or four stroke tech) cam made for your style of riding or racing. The 330 kit also needs the rev box mod to really work great or you will hit rev limiter real quick  I would not go back to anything less than 330 after i modified my 250x and I have had my kit for 5 years with no problems.
