i have a 2001 honda 400ex with a white bros e series pipe and a k&n filter with a pre filter..what size jet does anyone recommend?? the instructions say use a 170 main jet but it doesn't seem to work to well,other 400's beat it.. does anyone know what size works better??

Who's instructions are you refering to?

I'd say you'd be better of with a 158 - 160 MJ.

Try a 40 pilot and a 155 or 158 mj.

I AM REFERRING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT CAME WITH THE K&N JET KIT,I ALSO HAVE MY AIRBOX LID REMOVED

I don't know what jet size you should use then.
The K&N main jet numbers are different that the standard jet numbers.

Ask White Brother's what they recomand, your exhaust plays a big part in jetting. I would check to see if it's running rich or lean with the 170 first.
