Hey for the 04 400EX how much transmission oil should i put in.
When changing oil in the 400ex about 2 quarts of '4-stroke motor oil' is used.

Yea the tranny and the cylinder share the same oil. Just make sure you buy 4-stroke motor oil made for bikes with a wet clutch. and 2 quarts is about right, I always buy 3 just to have some around.

I just got my 400ex and done the first oil change, i put two quarts in and had to let a little out because it was overfilled. does anyone know the exact amount,or is 2 quarts right but maybe some of the old oil didnt drain out.

Did you remove the drain plug by the shifter?
I usually put in about 1 1/2 qts or so, run it for a bit then top it off to the correct level.
