I have spent a lot of time behind the wheel of my friends 05 Ram Hemi. They are not that powerful...and god damn they are bad on fuel. I'm not sure if this is true but when dodge first announced they were putting the hemi's in the rams everyone scrambled to order one and something happened and a good portion of the buyers cancelled their order for some reason and that's why were and are so cheap to buy and come standard in the trucks...

A bum could walk into a dodge dealer and buy one!

Himi? Try Hemi. And the name Hemi comes from the design of the combustion chamber/heads. The "HEMIspherical" design is to improve performance.

it's got a hemisphereical (sp) head design.

Yea it has a form of a HEMI head, but the combustion chamber is shaped like a L so it doesnt have and cant have HEMI pistons. Well atleast the set of heads I saw was this way, I believe its considered more of a twisted wedge design than a HEMI design atleast compared to the 426 and 392 and 351 HEMIs are concerened.

My dad just traded his 04 in for a 06 last night! Hemi’s have a lot of power but the name Hemi doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a hemispherical design. The power output is nothing like the old engines in the muscle cars but they are still powerful! Half of the people on here have no experience with this car but yet they seem to have very strong opinions.

And for the person that said a bum could go walk in and buy one, you are not even close. They are still a very expensive truck even if the Hemi's come standard. Do you know how much is costs to walk out the door with the bill of sale in your hand? I don’t think so. They add on a lot of money for small things. Don’t talk if you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not trying to start an argument either.

when you compare dodge's prices with ford/gm....they are peanuts. they will bend over backwards to get you buy one...

I own a 2003 ford F-350 diesel dually crew cab 4x4, I would know. I priced them all...

Hon300ex how can you confirm these opinions aren't factual?

Well I said Hemi's have a lot of power because they have the most out of any 1500 truck. I've drove my dads and that thing was no slug. My dad has drive a Silverado 1500 and he said he wasn’t happy with the power so he decided to go buy a dodge. (That was in 2004 when he got his first dodge ram.)

I said half of the people on here don’t know what they are talking about. They make unbelievable claims on things that just aren’t true.

I also said that dodge adds a bunch of money onto the final sale because I was with my dad yesterday when he bought his 06 and the salesman was adding things on that just made me and my dad look at each other.

You said it yourself, most of the things I stated were opinions (saying they were powerful, saying they were no slug...etc. those are my opinions.) But the Hemispherical design, and Dodge adding a lot of money onto the final bill are facts. I was jus stating what I know to be true and what I think about it.

I can verify that a 30' TERRY DAKOTA 6600 POUNDS works a 5.7 Hemi pretty good.

I said half of the people on here don’t know what they are talking about. They make unbelievable claims on things that just aren’t true.

Which specific claims were you referring to?

Well, there were not so many in this thread, but there was another thread on diesels or something like that where many people were just saying something because there dad friends brother said it.

For example, in this thread

240BlasterRida- hemi=gimic=nopower

How can you say that this truck puts out no power?

diesel boy, what am I saying that you disagree with me on?

I'll take my titan cc over a hemi anyday.. I was close to buying a dodge. But once I test drove the Titan, I was hooked..awesome truck..although consumer reports voted it the worst in 05?!?!? It does have some flaws from the factory, but once they are fixed.. No problems at all!..

Well here is a Hemi and LS1 at my work, we are a junkyard for new sports cars, and well hemi's and ls1's, ls2's, ls6's, are just getting tossed around everywhere we have no room for them, Compared the the LS1, the Hemi has a Cast Iron block, which i dislike, lots heaver, but in the long run will benifit, this one in the pic, we took out of a 06 charger daytona, and im just about to steam clean it, although it wasnt too dirty, (400 miles on it). Pretty beefy engine, could be lighter..The LS1 just owns in all catagories in my educated opinoin.
But it was cold this day and there i am out there with a power washer washing it before we put it for sale  Crappy job.

It has the 5.0 V8 with auto. That truck has been worked so hard I am still stumped as to why it is still running as strong as it does. In all honesty, The 1996 has been the most problem free vehicle I've ever owned. I can't think of the last time I've taken a wrench to it. When I bought it, a guy used it to tow also. it tows pretty decent but the power just isn't there so that engine was worked really really hard with a flatbed trailer, and bobcat loaded on it.
