View Full Version : Our barn burnt down

Last night at 5:30 lightning struck our barn setting it on fire, we had 4 german shepard pups in there and 10 doberman pups and a mother and 2 horses, we got all the shepards, the horses but we could only get to the mother and the one pup it was too smokey to see anything in there so we couldnt do anything to save the other nine dobermans. In the top of the barn was my dads friends boats my uncles snowmobile and a go cart.

There were also 2 full BBQ tanks up there, the one blew up and blew the big front doors off the barn, the other went off at 10:30 at night and we cant even find it. When the first tank blew it sent a fireball at our house which is a good 50feet. The fire department was sprayin water on the garage and the house, while they were doing so the house roof and garage roof were sizziling.

The fire almost caught our garage on fire, but thankfully the out side of our shed is metal and concrete, but it still did some bad stuff to the garage. It messed up the door, melted the windows and cracked some, it warped the roof. We managed to get the dirtbikes out, because there is no insurance on them.

It was a crappy night:(

thats sucks:(

when i was 14, i did not listen to my dad and i used a truck instead of a tractor to pull a hay wagon in the barn to unload it. the exhaust set the hay on the floor on fire and cooked the whole place. 2 40x80 bank barns with 30,000+ bales of hay and straw, 1 truck, the tack barn with all the tack and a small shed used to store hand tools, not too mention the tractor shed that had a restored 1957 chevy and 2 model B john deere tractors.

so i learned the hard way to listen and not elaborate on what i was told to do or why:p it would have been much easier to handle if it were an act of nature for me:p

sorry to hear that bro we had the same thing happen about 5 years ago, electrical started the tool shed on fire, got the dog out but the john deere and 2 trailers and all of our tools burned up. The firemen had the fire allmost out when the pump they where using to pump out of our pond with tied up, and then we lost the whole barn till they got it going again
the worst part is not remebering everything that you have when you do your insurance. Imagine walking in and where everything should have been and write it down, i forgot to claim my chainsaw, small 4 drawer toolbox, and many other misc hand tools
you will go to use someting a year later and be like o i used to have that
good luck on the clean up and sorry to hear that

yep, a tack barn is where all the horse "gear" is kept. we boarded 30 horses, 17 of which were in the barn (i got them out)

the only upside is that one of the horses i got out belonged to a pretty hot chic, and she rewarded me for saving the horse:devil:

I was the second in after my dad, i was not sure what to do, so i decided to go up stairs and try to open the big doors to the barn to let the smoke out, i burnt my hands trying that so i coudent, i alomost passed out from the smoke. After i realized if i got the 2 bug slideing doors open i would have killed my dad and the horses. I went out, got fresh air and came in, my mom was trying to find the puppies but my dad tourqued her out of there, as soon as my dad opend one of the doors the flames just went nuts.
