400ex cam timing question

I am installing a new cam in my 440ex and have a question. I have shaved the deck on the cylinder and now the cam timing marks (on the cam sprocket) dont align with the deck any more (it looks like its 1/2 a tooth off).

Do I want to now rotate the cam 1 tooth forward or 1 tooth backwards to ensure that my ignition timing is not advanced or retarded too much.

i would say whichever way is closer to the actual marks. That is one of the main problems with decking the head on a 4-stroke.
