All you need is to go to one of the local bait shops and just pick up a New York State fishing license.

Not sure about NY.......But most places you can purchase an "out of state license" that is good for like 3 days and cheaper than a regular.........Some special permits are required depending on what fish?

Also do a search on the web for NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMEN OF GAME AND FRESHWATER FISHERIES.........They should tell you everything you need to know and most states even allow you to purchase the license online and print the license.
