If you get the pipe and the jet kit, all your doing is getting to 52mph quicker. If you want to go faster than 52, you have to start changing the gearing on your bike. The gears basically allow you to go faster with less low end. Or have tons of low end with a slower top speed.

thats all i can do?

pretty much the only thing u can do is the gears boring and porting and suck like that does not really help the top end it will gain a few mph but!!!!!!! will not make u 20mph faster as some people may thing but if u gear it it will help with the top end alot but u will lose low end so if u race mx i would not gear it to wear u will lose low end i use 13 38 and that is what works for me...

aproximatly how much speed do u gain or loose changing the fron and how much do you gain or loose on the rear
i am asking because i am thinking of getting 20" tires for better handling but i like the way it is geared with a 14t front sprocket, but i like to do wheelies and that sprocket kind of kills that.... i was thinking of dropping a tooth or two in the rear and getting a set of 20's most likely xcrs. correct me if i am wrong...
3 rear teeth = aproxximatly 1 front tooth?
and one front tooth is almost the same as changing tires for speed wise rite?
ok thanx for your help wanted to make sure i had that rite and get some suggestions...
you do drop teeth in the rear to gain top speed rite?

dude think bout a bike, bigger sprocket like a 40t means faster! in front, now u take away teeth and u will go faster, u racin or trail riden, cause i plan on gettin XCTs for better ground clearence and control, XCRs are very small and for racin or non-trail riden

I AM DOING THE SAME THING TO MY 300EX THIS WK.BUT, I WANT TO BE ABLE TO CLIMB BETTER,I HAVE A YOSHI PIPE,WENT TO A 20IN RAZR,AND CHANGED THE FRONT TOOTH BY ONE...ARE YOU RUNNING YOUR STOCK REARS NOW?BUT, I AM NOT TOO CONCERNED ABOUT MY SPEED,I JUST NEED TO BE ABLE TO CLIMB THE BIG DUNES.

XCR's are 20 inch, stock 400ex size. XCT's are 22 inch, and mx are 18...so XCR's arent really small, just normal

the holeshot xcr profile is actually smaller than all the other 20 inch tires for some reason i saw a picture of it next to the old 20's made by hole shot and are a little bigger yet in a pic next to the 18s they are slitly bigger

ya but doesnt it take away ground clearence?

yes with taking away 2 inches in tires size u will loose one inch of ground clearance but the lower center of gravity will help handling a lot,

will adding teeth to ur front sprocket give u more speed or power?
will adding teeth to ur rear sprocket give u more speed or power?

A bigger tooth front sprocket increases speed, a lower tooth front sprocket makes it slower. The back is diffrent.A higher tooth rear sprocket makes it slower a lower tooth rear sprovket makes it faster.

And you should notice a BIG difference in climbing by going down a tooth on your front to a 12 tooth.I just done this to mine:D

i do some hill climbing, will i get more power from a 12 tooth than out of my 14?

on my 300 I have 20 inch holeshot xc's, stock exaust, k&n filter, and jet kit... now I got it from my brother a while back, and just when I bought it he put a new sunstar sprocket set on it.. My gearing is 14/39.. I dont' know what that gearing is more focused toards, but I'd like to know... anybody have an answer.

i think the 14 is bigger so its aimed for faster and the 39 is bigger but that makes it slower cuz its the rear sprocket. mine is 14/38 i have 22in tires

Ok... First off.do you have 400ex? Cause the 300ex only has 13 tooth. The 400ex has 14 tooth.if you get a YOshi pipe,it adds alot of extra torque between 2nd and 3rd.But does nothing for your top end.As for the sprocket,I guess in a round about way,you gain power, you manage the power better, instead of climbing in 2nd. gear at a high rpm,you can climb in 3rd with a lot less rpms.If you want to wheelie,I can get it to wheelie in 3rd or 4th gear easily for about 200 yards. The 300 doesnt have enough power to push a much bigger sprocket.SO I suggest changing your from tooth up one to a 12 tooth if you want it for climbing, and go up one to a 14 if you want speed and less power,I cant really say much on the rear though,I cant imagine it doing much for a 300. Does this help you any ???

when you ge different sprockets it does not change the power, it just takes away or adds torque through changing the gear ratios. if you want more top end you get bigger front sprocket and smaller back sprocket and the opposite for more torque. iether way you have to sacrrifice torque or top speed so make up your mind, wether you want to go really fast or wether tou want to excelerate fast.:grr

Toby300ex pretty much summed that up.You cant really have the best of both worlds, you kinda have to choose, one or the other,or you might think about upgrading if you are wanting a HUGE power diffefence.hope all of this has helped..

I have a 02 300EX with stock tires and 13/37 sprockets.I have a D.G. pipe,130jet,. It will go 63 MPH. It is also quick out the hole.I have modified the carbuerator, and use a K&N air filter. It's a perfect setup for my weight and location.

Heh I always knew a bigger back meant more power in the low end, I had like a 66 or a 70 tooth rear sprkt on my CR250,, and it wasnt to good in the top end but had a load of low end torque. Did a lot of trials with that hehe.
