i just got my ac blckline bumper in and it has an extremely tight fit, i can't even get it on. Is there something wrong or should i try something?

Nah, nothings "wrong" per se, it's just how a lot of AC products are. They need tweaking to fit properly sometimes. You might have to bend the tabs a bit in a vice or ream out the holes with a file to get the bolts to line up correctly.. the finished product looks absolutely great though!

damn i dont wanna break anything or something like that should i just get it installed by someone who knows what they r doing for a couple bux?

it is 4 bolts...it just takes a little patience and "coersion" on your part...if anything, align the posts and slightly tap the bumper until is slides on...if you can run a wrench to get the old one off, you know enough to get the new one on...but if you can't, i'll do it for $10, plus travel costs

when all else fails, get a bigger hammer;) You must not be holding you mouth just right. keep trying, it may be tough but it will eventually go on.

this ***** it so hard to get on anyone else have any advice

tap it alittle harder...even after mine has been on and off repeated times, it is still a pain in the arse to get back on...get all for posts lined up on the frame to where they are just on, then start hitting away...put some muscle into it once they are on a good bit...you can tap them individually as need to get the holes to line up with the bolt holes on the frame...if you need to, sand the inside edges a little or take your hammer adn get one side on then tap the inside of the other until they slide on, then tap back into place...

can you post pics of how far off it is?

bottom

so the bottom 2 are not like the top two post on the bumper...

get one side or the other on...angle/rotate it to do this...get the bumper holes past the frame holes the rotate it to the other side close, then you should be able to tap/pound it on

That third picture almost makes it look like the bottom brackets are a 1/4" off ! If they are, you may be able bend and bang the thing into place. But after paying all that money for it you would hope it would bolt right up. I'd call them up.

do not go at it straight on, turn the bumper so it is almost side ways to the bike left side towards the bike, right side towards you

put the left side behind the holes and rotate the rigth side towards the bike, making sure that the left side stays on or behind the mounting holes...

bring it to where the right side makes contact with the frame/mounting holes...

now tap the right side until it slides on making sure that the left side does not slide off...

tap it where you need to to get the holes on the bumper to line up with the holes in the frame and bolt it up...

this may take a few tries...

welcome to the world of ac

yeah. and the blackline is powercoated which makes it even tighter. I hit to much stuff with mine and cracked the mounts in half so I put the stock bumper back on:D

one more ? what are u tapping with?

02-15-2006, 03:08 PM
preferable a runner mallet, i think tha las time i even kicked it with my foot becasue i didn't feel like going to the tool box to get the mallet...if you don't have a mallet, get a block of wood and place it agains the bumper and hit it with a regular hammer

Well, I emailed them and they said that i have the wrong bumper, so i guess i'm going to return it and get an ims intimidator or something. It took almost 2 months to get to me and they sent me the wrong one, wtf. I'm never ordering from them agian. Such bad service.
