Ok so this summer or sometime this spring i wanna buy an older quad like a banshee or 400ex to build from the ground. i dont wanna have to rebuild the motor unless its a 2 stroke cus they're a little bit simpler i think. so basically i want a quad i can bolt together thats fairly simple. wat do u guys think would be a good candidate for wat i want to do. it'd be nice to have a 2 stroke to ride too since i already have a 4 stroke. i'm also interested in buildin a dirtbike maybe too.

400ex, tons of used parts can be found and real reasonable.

That's y i was thinkin about those. but wat's everybody think about a Banshee build. i also wanna learn how to work on 4 stroke motors little more. where would i buy a manual for a engine diagram for the 400 ex motor?

a banshee build woud be cool, but remember for the engine you have to buy two of everything. 4strokes are not that difficult to work on. a 400ex motor is simple, i can tear one down in my sleep. Like other said parts are eveywhere as well as upgrades. you can pick up a clymer manual for like $25 from you local shop that goes step by step on how to maintain you quad and how to tear into the engine.

i would say for your first build use a blaster. they are cheap and easy to work on.

Banshees are not expensive at all to build, its all just a stero type "two of everything" I can rebuild a banshee motor then rebuild a 400ex motor and the banshee motor will be cheaper, I looked into it because I was going to buy a totaled 400ex and make a mx quad

Try a 250r. They're the easiest quad to work on, plus their pretty fast if you build em right. A 400 would also be good, but I think that a 250r will end up being cheaper, and faster.

i would do the 400ex, there reliable, good on parts availablility, and they are cheap

dont be intimidated by a 4stroke motor

once you pull it apart, you will see, its not complicated at all, and you will remember in an instant on how it reassembles
