Burning up stators

I have a 2004 YFZ I bought it used in October. I rode the bike twice and the thrird time I was in a harescramble when the bike started breaking up and stalling wile i was at half throttleand bellow full thottle was ok. I was running second in pro-am so instead of stopping and addressing the problem i kept going i thought it was my jetting so i kept rejetting and then i was having starting problems so i changed the stator and after 2 or 3 rides its breaking up again what would cause this? i do almost all my own work im noligable of the motors and stuff but this is got me stumped any help would be greatly aprecciated
