416/426 Reliability

[ATC350X 85]

Just curious, how are the 416/426 kits on reliability? Anyone have one with alot of hours on it w/o any problems related to the motor work.

had my 426 for about a year and a half with only monor problems. been together ove a year without any maintenence. at first i went through head gaskets like crazy it is fixed now with a cometic flex steel gasket that has been there for over a year. has alot of time left on it as well.

Did you upgrade to heavy duty studs? Or was it strictly just a poor gasket issue?

the first time i pulled the studs, but i heli-coiled the stockers back in. from them on it has been a year with no signs of pulling yet. i did blow two paper gaskets with, but have had no problems with a flexsteel one to date.
