Tips/ questions on digital camcorders

Im looking to get a Digi camcorder and am look for tips on what to look for in one.. Like zoom X and if MINIDV camcorders are the same thing as digital because at Best BUy the only thing they have is MINIDV and those sony mini cd thingys.. any other tips would be appreciated

i had a $800 handycam and that minidvd stuff was too crazy for me. I like digital

is MINIDV ditigal.. or can it be hooked up to the computer to edit at all
