I've been building this for the last week or so and its about done so i thought i post a pic or two. All thats left is to put either some plywood or cross braces on the side and cover the surface with plywood. Its goin to take a skid loader to move the thing but im settin it up in my backyard so it doesnt have to go far, but it fits on the trailer just in case. I have other pics but i'm too lazy to post them cause my computer sucks but maybe ill be patient enough later.

man i'd at least strongback all those 2x6 w/ another 2x6 underneath to form a "t" for strength - and then use simpson 2x6 hangers on the strongbacks at the ends where they meet the 4x sides

yeah i used screws, in fact, all the wood was free so the whole ramp cost me $8.97 for the screws! heres a pic with the plywood on it now i just have to put some braces on the side and front and it'll be ready! won't be able to get the landing ready by this weekend though cause we got a snowstorm commin but hopefully after that the weather will get nicer and we can put it to use.

in terms of the take off, that has to be the nicest wood ramp i have ever seen! that angle is perfect IMO (not too steep, just gradual enough!)

you are probably going to want to add a bit more support though! how far away do you plan on putting the landing?

oh and I have a q. If you live in oske why dont you go and ride there riding park that park could keep me busy for years. especially the gravity jumps.

i go there about every weekend through the summer and it is one of the most awsome places to ride ever but i just wanted a jump to mess around on at my house. Where do you live in Iowa?. To answer wolffie's question im thinkin maybe 40' - ive never built a ramp so im not sure how far it will send me. its 5'4" tall and 35 degree takeoff- does anyone have an opinion on how far would be a comfortable distance? i'll probably jsut start small and keep movin back till i start to get uncomfortable

also does anyone have an opinion (from experience preferably) on how high to make the landing. I was thinkin if it was the same height as the ramp it woud be comfortable?

lol thats the exact specs as my ramp (35 degree final angle and mine a lil over 5 foot) when you start it off jsut put it about 15 feet away (any closer and its way too easy to over shoot) just start hitting it there then start bringing it back i moved mine in 5 foot increments but some people ive talked to moved them even less

here is my ramp at 25 feet

Wheres this track you guys are talking about? I'm moving to dubuque Iowa. I'm looking for places to ride, I've been to bussey/bluff creek, that place was pretty cool.

instead of using one support down the center, you should have used two, i think it would be a lot stronger, since thats where the most force is, all tho im pretty sure that ramp you made will be perfectly fine.

bluff creek is the park we are talkin about, that is def. the best place to ride in southeast iowa

the only reason im tellin him how to improve his design is because im takin construction at my high school --oh yea--

ive never even hit a jump like that --one made out of nothin but wood---mine is always dirt, snow, rocks, etc
