I have a '04 450r with an hrc kit. I think my rings are bad cuz it smokes and dogs on the top-end. I was told to run a 11:1 JE piston. What would you reccommend?

well i have a JE 13:1 in mine with a HRC cam, but i also have port and polish work. but none the less the piston is great! still starts fine and adds a nice touch of power. also if you are going with a higher compression piston might as well go ahead and get one that you will be able to tell a difference between it and stock. 11:1 won't be enough to really tell.

I would reccommend a JE for sure, I would go 12:1, with the HRC cam you will still be able to run pump 91 or 93 on the engine, being its a high duration cam :macho

JE is good, but VCP (Vicious Cycle Performance) is suposed to be awosme. and it is a true 13.1 comp. JE is not a true 13.1 comp is more like a lil over 12.

I second that question!! I hear they are junk. JE is the way to go. Wiseco makes nice stuff but there compression ratings arent exact.

Where did you here that wiseco pistons make less compression than they claim the piston makes?

you wont get much froma 11.5 piston unless your planning on doing some decking or milling.

Do you mind running race gas?

actually the reason they say this is on the dome shaped pistons, its because wiseco wasnt properly cutting them, i believe they have fixed the problem since then

Ive heard people say they have the je 12:1. All that I can find is the 11.5:1. I would like to run 12:1 If I want that how much should I take off the head with the 11.5:1 je piston.

I wouldnt want to run race fuel . All I do is trail ride and some times I have to get gas while im riding.

most engine builders can get you a 12:1 piston, try DASA
