they are great. we have only used them for plowing snow. but you can never go wrong with a bobcat, there is an attatchment for everything, and now the all wheel steer.

The place I work we have a CASE 90XT with a cummins engine. It can lift I think 2500lb. and tip 6,000lb. it's quite the machine, but I love the bobcat brand. The quick attach is very handy. Have you ever heard of ASV? we also have an ASV R50 which is some how owned by CAT with a 4 cyl perkins it is the most under powered piece of junk ive ever used. It stalls constantly.

I love going to the pulls in wisconsin. Im at the suring/gillett pulls every 4th of july and sometimes labor day.

I forgot out homebuilt sprayer

IH truck frame w/ a 6cyl. CUMMINS td
Military axles on bags
105ft. of booms
JD combine cab
Hood off case tractor
1200 gallon tank
72"tall 8" wide tires on custom rims

It looks like a sprayer you would buy, but at a 6th the price, the most expense was in the GPS and boom controls to go with it, followed by the rims and tires. It was a lot of work to get all the mechanicals and electronics right but it was worth the $100,000 plus saved... I'll see if i can find pics, and some of the figures, but one thing i remember was if all the gearboxes were in high range it would theoretically go over 200mph...

my wife works with a woman that has her kitchen decorated in john deere stuff- wallpaper, towels, everything...they love john deere, the funny thing is that they live in a very residential area nad only have about an acre of land...not a real need for any type of big heavy JD machinery...i thought it was kinda comical...
they also have about 5grand tied up in pulling trucks-Radio controlled pulling trucks

240g's might be like a drop in the bucket to him, all depends on how many acres he farms. One of my buddies has 3 8320t's, but they farm a LOT.

we farm a 1,000 acres but down in the south u guys must farm over 4 to 5 thousand arces right.i just love those track tractors they r my favorite i wish i could drive one of those beasts but we dont have the dough to buy those up here.

Honda#4
02-20-2006, 11:26 AM
hey 1badyfz dont u wish u had a faster tractor then them tracks or not i see u have the 8520 with the front duals that must go about 25mph right cause r white 6215 goes 26mph.

02-20-2006, 11:50 AM
the tracks are not to bad, they will do almost 21 down the highway, they vibrate to hell on concrete up to 10 mph, they also tear up your gravel lanes on your farm but there butter smooth in any ripped or disked ground,

we run 2 8320's on the planters and grain karts and we use 1 8220 for miscellanous work (stock chopper/ rock picker/ rotary hoeing/ disking) the 2 8320's have that independent front suspension and they will cruise about 27 down the road.

We have a few pieces of heavy equipment. We run a ranch and a Logging bussiness on the side. We own a few John Deere tractors and the usual hay equipment. For the logging bussiness we have two John Deere 748G-III Skidders, one CAT TK751 feller buncher, one John deere 2554 Processor, and a John deere 2554 loader. We also have one TD20 and one TD25 Dresser crawlers. Then there are two Freightliner logging trucks also. Having good equipment makes work soooo much easier!

i'd like to demo one of those fendt tractors they do about 35mph or more on the road, the joystick they have is sweet.fully loaded they r about $200,000 with a sunroof leather heated seating the hole sha bang and they r great looking tractors to.

Our Cat doesn't vibrate bad on the road, barely at all... Nothing beats tracks in a rough field though, like you said, butter smooth...

yea tracks r great but they have a disadvantge there kind of slow but they make up with the power they have.

the track drive machines are grat for the wet mucky spots. I wonder what a replacement track cost.

Honda#4
02-21-2006, 07:00 PM
i think just the rubber track is some were between $500 to 1000 for one side but dont quote me on that.but ya tracks do float ive been in 4 feet of sticky mud with our white and i blasted right though it.

How about $5000 a piece... I dont agree w/ blasting right through mud, as soon as you try steering all you do is spin...

Yep, my father dropped a bunch of cash on his skidsteer for tracks... They were close the $5k if I remember right.... they work GREAT on jobsites that are unfinished lots...

ok maybe blasted was the wrong word so how about tore but i have gone though 4 feet of mud without getting stuck and the rpm's dropping.this is how fast i work in the fields with our equipment.

disk ripping 10mph
dragging 12mph
sub-soil 13mph
cultivating 4-6mph
disking ? never done because it's not big enough for our tractor.
plowing 8-10mph

DieselBoy
02-22-2006, 05:28 PM
The reason tracks are better is they are "walking" on the ground instead of rolling on it. One thing I noticed you need more power to turn those tracks than tires. Tim's ASV trackloader drags out (cause it's underpowered)

 How big is each piece of equipment and with what hp tractor are you using. What they say 45hp per shank at 4.5mph on a sub-soiler? Regardless you are not doing a good job in any case at those speeds.

hey 1BADYFZ, how many acres do you farm?

Honda#4
03-07-2006, 09:20 AM
i do everything except cultiavatingwith a white 250hp tractor.the disc ripper we use is a 5 shank the drag is a 24footer, the plow is a 6 bottom, the sub soiler is a 6 shank.and why would i not be doing a good job with those speeds thats how our tractor is setup our working gears r 7 though 9 and if u go to 10 its the road gears.by the way its a powershift.
