Hey guys im wondering how good a bike is the 300ex. Personaly I have never ridden on so I am unsure of its power. I had a 400ex and loved it and I am looking to get back into riding. Ill get another 400ex or maybe Z400, but I need to get my Fiance a quad also.

The 300ex seems like a great choice since it has reverse, but how does it do for power/hill climb/ etc.... There are alot of gravel pits and trails we ride at and I dont want to put her on a bike that she will be unable to have fun on.

So can you guys give me some reviews of this bike?

Thanks
Tc

theres a big difference between a 300ex and a 400ex. I just got my 300ex and to be honest, i absolutly love it. If you dont race or drag race or blast through the trails the 300ex is the way to go. Dont get me wrong, the 300ex has kick, but the 400ex is faster. And if reverse is a factor on the 400 get and 05 or an 06, its not fun turning a quad around on a tight trail;) .

as for your wife....if she likes to shift get her a 250ex. Plenty of power and speed for her. If she doesnt like to shift go along the lines of a trailblazer

i forgot to tell about the power?hillclimb and stuff.........

the 300ex has alot of power just yank the bars in 2nd and the front end is up. It climbs hills great(trust me i ride in strip jobs:D )

the 300ex would be a good choice for your wife if she has never ridden much...if she has, a newer 400ex with reverse would be perfect..if that is not an option(buying 2 quads at once can be expensive) then go with the 300 for the reverse

i have a 250x and it is a carbon copy of the 300.i can climb a lot of hills on my 250x.i also have a 300 ex, thats all dect out and it is unstopable on the trails and hill climbs.if ur wife is a new/rokie rider i would go wit the 300.the 400 has great power but my 396 has more and plus im lazy and like the reaverse:D .but u can always trick out the 300.thats just me a lazy but experianced rider.

The 300 ex was my first bike and it isnt too bad.
Has plenty of power for a beginner but if you like speed go with the 4ooex because if it does become to slow you can beef it up.

BUT IF YOU DONT HAVE THE MONEY A 300EX IS A GOOD QUAD AS WELL VERY NIBBLE IN THE WOODS LIKE A DEER RUNNING THREW THE TREES.
HAS PLENTY OF POWER TO CLIMB HILLS AND IS VERY RELIABLE

OVERALL RATTING 8 OUT OF 10

i'd give it a 8 out of 10 to.the 400ex gets a 7 out of 10.it felt kinda tippy to me.

first off, no way a 300 gets a higher rating than the 400

that out of the way a 300ex would probably be a perfect choice for your wife. i dont know anything about her riding capabilities but i know the 300 is tame enough for a beginner to handle and has plenty of power to have fun on. we've got nothing but hills around here and its never struggled with any of them. my sis is 13 and she is great on the 300, gets along fine with the clutch too. your wife wouldnt be dissapointed at all and as she gets better the 300 is also easily upgraded. hope i made your decision a little easier, i know if it were me i would go with a 300ex hands down.

it shouldnt have felt any tippier than the 300, its wider and just slightly taller. what kind of tires did it have on it?

Thanks for all the input guys. I will wind up with either a Z400 or 400EX. For my girl ill try to either find a z400 or a 300ex. No matter what the bike will have to have reverse, but a 300ex looks like a good option, if i can find a nice used one for her.

My reccomendation...

(2) Z400's (or 2 400ex's if you go that route). In a pinch you have spare parts for testing. Only one set of maintenance parts (filters, etc.), and hand me down parts when you upgrade. ;) If you leave the intake and exhaust stock on your wifes quad it shoud be plenty tame.

Also having ridden a 300ex for years, I would have to disagree with the 300ex being great at hills. A little underpowered, and it has a very light front end due to the extremly short swinger. Don't get me wrong, I've done some nasty hills with the 300ex.. but it takes a lot of skill to hit them right whereas it's 10x easier on a 400ex or z400 with the extra power and longer weelbase.

Not enough power can be more dangerous than too much.

Not enough power can be more dangerous than too much.

at least with not enough power you will be going slow when you wreck :eek2: haha

the 300ex is far from being a powerhouse but since you require reverse and this is for your WIFE i would say 300 all the way. also take her size into consideration, you dont want to stick a beginner on somethin unproportional to their body english capabilities, a 110lbs frame of a women MIGHT not be able to handle something as big as a 400. again i know nothing of her size or experience so she may do fine on a 400.
