This has been a problem with me in a few races and is seriously getting on my nerves. If I stall in a race for whatever reason I'm pretty much out of it cause my bike won't fire back up soon enough. Is there something I need to do to get it to crank back up faster? One race I was lapped twice waiting on it to fire up.

sounds like maybe your motor runs real hot, and wont fire until it cools off a bit. i would check your pilot jet and cooling system. your pilot jet could be too lean, causing it to run hot.

I also have this problem w/ my 06, and you can't touch the throttle, sometimes it will take upwards of 10-15 seconds to start back up. I don't think its because it runs hot cause mine is stock.
I idled mine up and it seemed to of helped w' the stalling and starting but it still won't pop off like my ol' 400ex.

Anyone else have this problem also?

they come lean stock..

They do come very lean stock but that's not my problem. I've installed a thumb screw and the HRC kit. I've got it adjusted where it'll crank right up once warmed up and I just have to use the choke when cold. I just have a problem when I stall it.

then dont stall it! :blah:

a lot of people have been having this problem, the only fixes i have heard of was the boysen quickshot and upping the piolet jet, no one really has a perfect fix for it yet from what i understand

Does anyone know what the stock pilot on the '06 is and what is the next size up?

u might want to look in to the rekluse auto clutch. its supost to be like impossible to stall. i was considering getting on for my 450.

i drove a 450r with rekluse set-up.it was very different.u really didn't even need the clutch assembly at all.it would really take a lot to get used to.

i was gonna get a rekluse but with that clutch device you have to adjust your clutch system about everytime you ride and I aint down with that

42 pilot =stock
120 main=stock

i'm running a 48 pilot and a 145 main this did help with the stalling and starting but it still cranks alot to restart. if the rekluse clutch is properly install you shouldn't have to adjust it but about once a year. now if you put your quad in fifth gear and never change gears then ya you will need to adjust every ride. i had one in my CRF 250 and i'm getting ready to install one in my 06 trx 450er for GNCC races

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to drop a 45 pilot in it and see if that helps. I'd like to try the Rekluse but I don't like a lot of maintenance and I heard you have to adjust it often and replace your clutch plates more.

MY 06 had a 42 pilot I put a 45 in it. turned up idle alittle and now she starts like a champ. hot or cold, even if I stall it.I also put a 160main in and drilled some 1/2 inch holes around the outside of the air box lid.(so water does not land on the filter.) and it runs like a honda.......:D :D :D

My buddy and I both got new R's on the 5th. His has this problem BAD. His will take forever to restart sometimes. Thye are both stock, with the exception of the HRC kit. Mine never has a problem starting, and it is set up the same way. I guess we will try going up on the pilot and se if that helps.

Same hear she stalls easilly and can be a pain to start..HRC kit on the way and i will idle her a little more!!!Hope this is a fix!!

That doesn't make sense in Troyer23's situation. 2 of the same machines setup the same, but start different? That would have to be jetting wouldn't it?

Yeah, our bikes are set up exactly the same way. His just wont start when its hot, actually it spent the night in the woods last night b/c of that. We are gonna put in a bigger pilot I guess to see if that works.

Where do you get your info? That can't be any further from the truth. I have never had to adjust mine since I put it in...with a trip to the dunes, 6 races, and about 25 hours of hard trail riding. It still looks brand new. I check the gapping when I change the oil....takes all of an exta 5 minutes, but it's never out of spec.

What about wearing the clutch plates out faster?

I'm sure it will wear them out a little quicker, but mine are still fine. For me, I don't mind doing a little more work to check it b/c of the benefits!
