I blew my 440ex motor at the dunes, rod broke, piston hit head, bottom half of rod went through case and then jammed into the tranny gears. I found an 87 250r motor on ebay fairly cheap. I modded the frame to take the R motor, rad, exhaust, ect. this quad also has 250r front dual piston calipers on 400ex alum spindles. I custom made a sub frame with a 1 1/2" lower seat height. This quad is now extremely fast and would blow my 440ex motor away! I fabricated: subframe, stainless rad shrouds, alum. bumper, alum. grab bar, alum. air box, antivibe steering stem and frame to fit 250r motor. I'm trying to attach pictures but it doesn't seem to be working, I've resized them 3 times now!

Looks like a clean conversion. Similiar to a Service Honda trx250r, with the exception of the cr motor instead of trx motor. Nice job!

how did you do your pipe?? i had a fmf fatty on mine, but i had to cut the the pipe, i cut it right where it comes off the head, it had too much down angle on it, plus it stuck out too far and i kept rubing my leg on it. like to hear or see hoe you did it.

The pipe is CT mx pipe, I had to cut about 3/4 of an inch off the head pipe. I also had to do some relief cuts (cut out about a 1/16 of an inch with a thin cut disc about 3/4 of the way around the bottom of the pipe and pull downwards and then tack weld and weld up). these relief cuts were done over a 3 inch span about where the kick start is. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

SUPER SWEET MAN!!!:muscle:

I bet it feels MUCH lighter!, about how many lbs?? I was wondering because my friend has a yz motor in his 400ex frame with the Houser swingarm etc..and he says Since he put the YZ motor his bike, it is as light (or lighter)as my decked out 250r." But I know this can't be true! I have picked both bikes up and his feels much heavier! I'm not sure if it's the aftermarket parts or the motor that makes his heavier.
Anyway, now is the perfect opertunity for me to find out since You and I have the same motor but different chassis. Please let me know how much you think your bike weighs ;) Thanks!!!!!!

Bike looks AWESOME!

My Laeger YZ, and my Laeger 250R weigh about the same... and that's less [wet] than any production quad. :D

BTW Nice conversion!!!! I like to see that!! 4-stroke to 2-stroke  MUAHAHA
