I finally got a rolling chassis going all Im waiting on is my damn motor. Im so not even used to riding any more. I rode a stock 450r last night and it felt like the fastest thing in the world. that was the first time I had been on a quad in two months. longest time down and out for a good 4 years.

Looks real nice. I'm running a trans blue frame with black plastic and it looks real sharp. Get that motor back and get it running!

Who'd you have do your suspension, and what rear link are you running?

XCRACER26
02-13-2006, 07:57 PM
I made the pegs my self off of the old ones. I still have a stock rear link, for now. I went out on a whim with the frame and I like it, I wanted something that would stand out. Im hoping to pick up the motor tommorow "finally".

Looks damn good so far! I was gonna do my pegs like that.

Never heard of a "hotdogz" pipe. Do u have a link to their site?

XCRACER26
02-15-2006, 07:57 PM
yeah its hotdogzexhaust.com. or look in ebay for a "full race exhaust". and you will find it

ok, I got my motor back its pretty fast but I havent hit the powerband yet. any ways after I put about 10 minutes on it the motor started making a rechid noise from the top left side of the head. I'm taking the motor back to the motor builder as Soon as possibe and be like WTF!

get a prodesign, gunnar, or pro aluminum or w/e kill switch. Ditch that cheap one.

XCRACER26

I see so many people with siezing, it happens when the piston gets hot before the motor does, causing a cold siezer or when a lean condition (or bad gas) causes the motor to melt down.

Usally caused by one or two of a few things.

Not warming it up properly or not at all

Wrong rings, since it is a nickisil bore the rings should be steel.

Bad gas, new gas with ethenol can cause heat problem, when it settles out, you could ptentialy have a tank of 75% ETHENOL

A lean condition, cause by an air leak or an improperly adjusted carb.

I have used pyrometers on my Sleds and diesel truck since new, It will tell you when you motor is getting too hot!

Not really an expert on this, but I know one thing, I don't think anyone has ever had this many problems with a honda, maybe I should just buy and or 250R!

I think I might had dropped a valve, or bent one, I think the timing was off and / or the timing chain was loose and it jumped time causing a bent valve. has anyone ever ran into these probs with the crf cam? is the timing setup different? Im taking it back tomarra

If you drop a valve when your motor is running it would destroy mostly everything..

XCRACER26
02-21-2006, 07:56 PM
hope I didnt dropp a valve then

StuckInTheMud
02-23-2006, 08:44 PM
well for messing everything up by dropping a valve, thats not entirely true, i have dropped a valve while my motor was running and only thing that happend was that it bent, no cracks on the piston or nothing. just bought a new valve and adjusted the shims....ohh yeah, it dropped due to wrong **** on the wrong valve

kyleschonert

my friend dropped a valve on his yfz a couple weeks back. Completley mutalated the head and piston. Got a new head, valves, and piston, but apparently forgot to clean out all of that debris from the crankcase, (they put it in themselves), and now the whole entire motor is screwed. Its at the dealer and their gonna have to split the cases. So yea, droppin a valve isnt good at all. You lucked out by only it bending.

I found out wat happend. one of the two bolts that hold the cam came out. it caused the chain two rap around the crank gear. didnt hurt any thing and my MB had it back to me the next morning, he also said if anything would had broke he would had fixed it for free. he also jetted my quad for me too for free since I had the problems. it runs like a champ now.

check out unitedoffroadracing.com

I know there is a track in Maquoketa, IA as well.

Also a track in the Quad Cities.

Mount Carrol, IL has a mx track,

And Byron, IL has a mx track.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of spots for you ride and race if you don't mind driving a little.

What brings you to Dubuque?

Don't know if he'll be there. Have you heard if any of the old pro's are returning?

I'll probably stick in the 30+ class.

well I finally got my R on some of my trails and I feel fast as ever. I dont bottom out on alot of the stuff I used to and I can corner alot better thanks to those shocks. I have alot more power than I used to, I would give the "Hotdogzpipe" A look. It seemed to make a big difference, and Its only 229.00 brand new. the cam I put in there too made a bigg difference on top, I get past mid throttle and the thing just pulls.I feel alot faster than I used to be go through tights trees, I dont know what the deal is with that, I think I just more balls over my time of not riding.

Its because you haven't ridden in 4 months. I haven't rode since the last race.

well I got done with my first race this year in pro class. Got a win Im stoked, but I fliped my quad while I was out front and slid on my face for a good 5-10 ft. and the quad tagged a tree. smashed the bumper but it ran like a champ. I got the holeshot also. Im brusied and the quad is screwed up cosmeticly, still got the win though so I think it was a good day. oh by the way, minigambler good job on the #1 congrats.
