View Full Version : Chill Out!

Ok, I've been here for a little over 4 years now and I've seen many people come and go. We may have had a little fun on the boards last night but its time for all that to come to an end. Ive seen so much immature posing going on today, and its clearly getting out of control. I dunno if some of you guys noticed, but we're AMA's website of the year, that means ALOT of people check us out. Ok, what are people going to think when they see all this Arguing and all these pictures!? I may have contributed to some of this, but I realize its time to chill out with this stuff. I dont know how many out you have been here for more than three years and are still active members, but This place used to have such a better environment...Now its full of immature nonsense. I know some of you dont care, but a few of you might, so

THINK BEFORE YOU POST!

1. If you want it to end so bad then why did you post this topic, and start the other topic about it. You're still instigating it.
2. I don't think atvriders is AMA's website of the year every year. It said that for what like 2 years now?

YES, The kiddies are terrible! There should be a 25+ Forum, and then a "Kiddie" Forum so they can all talk smack about their wheelies and 400EXs. They are giving this site a bad rap because all they do is bad mouth and wreck every sensible thread anyone starts. I hate it man, it's bad and keeps getting worse.
I CAN'T AGREE MORE! Some people on here want to have serious threads with serious replies about racing. Facts, not opinions. Make the change!

Why do you have to be an ******* about it? Ok, I'm just stating what I think. And even we arent AMA "website of the year" We still get visitors from all all around the world. And all this junk that people are posting is going to help our reputation much. The Atv industry already gets bad press, alls we need now if for some more people visit one of the biggest atv site out there and see porn all over it.

How about a trusted user fourm?

A 25+ would not be fair, alot of people who are under 25 seem as if they are way older then they really are.

i agree with everything ShiftFMX and the supporters are saying. i may not be over 18 or even 16 yet. i have not made any stupid, dumb, idiotic posts or anything. i see all the time people being stupid and acting like they're tough as ****. it is getting out of line. just cuz its not AMA's website of the year anymore doenst mean we dont get more people anymore. some of us need to get in line and straighten out. some of us are ruining it for the rest of us.

I agree.i missed what went on the other nite that i guess, started all this ruckuss,i know it was not JUST that thread, but i beleive it was one of the last straws.the day is coming where Harlen and the moderators are gonna take action and there are gonna be alot of pe'd off people around here.but sumthing is going to have to be done to nip this thing at the bud.before it really gets out of hand.i think everyone has posted non-sense on here before,i included, but when you have a great thread started and it gets closed because of non-sense.it will make the "good posters" want to go elsewhere......just my 2 cents

Nothing going on? That's the whole point. We don't want to deal with all these nonsense posts and nonsense replies. Yes, it's the OPEN forum - anything goes. But I actually know about racing and the sport, and somtimes I like to here honest sincere answers from others like me. Every freaking post gets bombarded with kiddies that turn it into a brand vs. brand or badmouth each other and the entire point of the original thread is lost completely.
For example, I go to Jeep forums. They are AWESOME - because Jeeps are expensive, and alot of knowledge and skill it takes to keep an off road, or trail Jeep happy and healthy. Jeeps don't attract the kiddies and the 16-17 year olds, for this reason alone. Everyone on these forums are mature, and when YOU ASK SERIOUS QUESTIONS, YOU GET GET ANSWERS - it's great. It's nice to post somthing and get valuable feedback... and not deal with: "Cherokees suck, f*cking pu$$y - buy a CJ7, mine has a 304 and pops wheelies" - Yea, to say the least - there is way too much of this crap going around this site, and it pisses people off.

woohoo...i hat eot say it, but it aint all the kiddies, mostly but not all.
one of the things that gets me is people who post that they want to buy an item and you converse back and forth for the whole friggin weekend, take the time to take some pics and email them to the person, yada yada yada yada and you get the ole "my dad wants a better deal before he will send you the money", "my dad won't give me the money for it", "my dadathinks you will take our money and not send the item", or they just wnat the item for nearly free.

this hurts the site just as much as the argueing, which seems to me to be letting up a little, not much, but a little...

by the way, my post count is low:D

It's going to happen wherever you go ... doesn't matter which forum it is ... there's going to be different people with different point of views . Of course things are going to be different around here now , compared to 4 years ago ... this website is getting more exposure now than it ever did . It won AMA website of the year which attracted new members , when you pick up ATV Magazines , you can pretty much bet that you'll read www.atvriders.com somewhere in the pages and even last year at the Unadilla ATV Nationals , the announcers were giving exposure to Harlen and this website over the P.A system so that attracts new memebrs too .

What draws the line between two members argueing and 2 members debating something ?? What I might think is a discussion , might be considered an arguement to someone else .

Kwad Gawd .... you say that there should be a forum for people 25 years and over .... what for? How do you regulate something like that ?? I could have very well signed up and set my birthdate to 1970 and no one would even know the difference if I was 15 or 36 . There are a lot of teens on here that don't act like teens ... then again , there are adults on here that act like they are 10 . Having a minimum age forum won't do much for the problems being caused .
ANother thing , you say you don't want to come on here and hear about wheelies , or Blasters or 400ex's ... why not?? It's all ATV related isn't it ? Sure a Blaster or 400ex might not be as powerful as a new 450r or YFZ , but then again this website is ATVRiders.com ... not ATVRacers , PerformanceATVRacers , Only450rorYFZRacers.com . If you want to read about a certain brand of ATV like a 450r or YFZ or if you want to read about freestyle or ATV racing only , then there are certain websites designed around those specific areas .... but I see this website as a place where I can come read about everything from someone's Blaster to someones fullblown racer , Utility to Mini quads , someones first wheelie to the first ever ATV backflip and from local races to Pro Nationals . That's what makes this website so great .

one here so many peoples fingers move faster than their brains. they type stuff without putting any thought into it. I try to not whore, or argue too much but everyone does it from one time to another. it can be all fun and games but it cant get too serious either. i agree with what ShiftFMX had to say and that there should be some sort of trusted forum, not just a supporting members forum because anyone can become a supporting member by sending harlen a few bucks.

on other sites i have been on there are such forums. you cannot post anything for sale until you have a cetain post count. to keep people from just whoring to get their post cound up, post in non technical forums (open, pics, jokes, intro,ect...) are not counted towards their count. this way you have to establish yourself and actually help others to become an accepted member of the site and sell your items. liek here there are many people with no post with stuff for sale how are we supposed to trust them? if we did something like that with another sort of open forum for "trusted member" it would help some IMHO.

zeppelin
02-14-2006, 12:24 PM
^^^ i like that idea about open forum posts not counting, and the trusted member thing is a cool idea, but it will probably cause more problems then it solves. if there arent enough trusted members no one will go to the forum 'cause it wont be fun. on the other hand if there are alot of people in it others will wine and cry about not being allowed in. i hope harlen is looking at this thread because their have been a lot of good ideas posted here.

02-14-2006, 12:52 PM
there should be a TOTAL post count and then if your looking at their post count on whatever board they are in you can see the amount of posts for that board. For example my under my avatar is says Posts:5000 and under that if you are looking at the open forum it will say Open Forum Posts: 3000

my only problem with that is when i look to buy something on here i look for people who have been around here longer, more legit sellers. Other than buying and trusting people more i dont really care for post count, but some people find it fun to make a thread about them hitting a certain number.
