Just wondering if anyone could clarify that this gap between my ball joints and spindle is normal.

It doesnt look right to me. Even after tightening it will pull no further into the spindle.

Whoa! That doesn't look right. What kind of aarms are those? I'd call up the makers and find out if the spindles need reamed.

Yes that is normal, that is where the extra travel comes into play, perfectly normal.

I thought your boots were supposed to touch the spindles.

Brakes????? Who needs brakes?

I have them off right now. Im rebuilding the front calipers. I also need the mount hardware.

Anyone out there have any caliper mount hardware? I need both front and the rear.

If you say its normal John... I'll go with it then.

Wow, sorry for the misinformation. I've never seen them that high up. Mine balljoints are touching the spindle.

That should not have that gap. The ball joint isn't even seated properly. Do you have the right parts 4 the right bike?

I can't say right or wrong,But looking at it if the ball joint sat all the way down to the boot you would have awful lot of threads sticking out the bottom side.

Do not post if you do not have the correct info....my housers WERE THE SAME WAY!!!!!!!

dont know if this is correct or not,but that looks like a steel spindle. If it were aluminum wouldnt the tapered hole be deeper to spread the load over the softer alum?that would make the boot much closer to the spindle.

These are gibson a-arms but they look similar.

i would call houser just to make sure, my brother installed their arms on a kfx and they recessed all the way could be an issue and maybe not but still not a reassuring thought just to take someone's word for it especially if they think they are right, not to cause a conflict of interest but just a thought;)

You shouldn't have that kind of gap. Remove the spindle, gease the hole and the spindle, torque the bolt until it slides into the hole. Good luck!

Houser sells a ball joint press in tool for the 450r. I don't know if its needed for any other quad though.

i'm going to have to call houser after work today and see if this is okay or if they sent me the wrong ball joints

are the spindle sizes different between 86-87 and 88-89 250r's??

Your SO wrong....... thats the way housers long travel are made to fit. If you don't believe houser then take a set of calipers and measure the hole and measure the stud and you will see thats as far as they will go down
