I'm thinking of taking mine off.I don't ride at night and thinking of getting a hood so I wouldn't be able to ride at night unless I bought some aftermarket lights. lmk what ya think.

Yeah, it looks gay on that bone stock quad, but from the rear of mine I see a nice polished aluminum airbox.

That quad is far from stock, he has that cool black paint and those killer tires on there.

i took mine off and replaced it with # plate for racing, i still do alot of trail riding and all but i still manage with out it. they help though if your on a trail and ppl is ridin your bumper and you slam on the brakes.

I never ride with those,or lights.

But make sure you tell the dumbazz behind you to watch out,i had this kid ride up my *** one ride and i hit a rock and it jolted the the handlebars so i was going tright into a tree so i slammed the rear brake and the kid behind me had to skid outta the way and he crashed,so just tell them.

Probably, you don't. Probably, I have more money in riding gear than you do in your whole bike.

I definitely have less in my bike than both of you, and have just as much fun!

Just as long as the attitude and sarcasm didn't come along with it.:blah:

attitude and sarcasm are just a couple of the many services I offer. Just kidding actually, the sarcasm was directed at BlackTRX, I just couldn't resist poking a little fun at him with all the money in his motor. My other quad is cleaner, just has a bit less motor, set up pretty much the same but with a 426 and softer suspension. I need to get a pic of it posted.

I was just playing around as well, hope there was no offense taken.;)

nope, takes a lot more than that to offend me friend! Anyhow, this is my other machine, this was the pic that made me decide to buy it. I have done a few changes to it, very minor, the biggest thing being tires and rear rims. Ditched the MX tires for something more suited to my style. Also a swingarm skid. I love that 426, but the red 440 (duncan motor) really gets with the program. I don't see how people say 426 is a faster revving motor, my 440 really runs hard!

That 426 is sweet, but I do like your 440. Say you ditched the mx tires, what style of riding do you do?

I don't race anymore, just tear it up on trails, fire roads and I love the sand dunes. I am moving to Vaneta OR in two weeks and will be doing a LOT of riding on the OR dunes area. Nothing is more fun in the dunes than a nice wide MX quad. Oh yea, I love to boondock on our Summits too.

I run without a taillight but if my quad was as sharp lookin' as those two I'd get one in. Those are nice. I think mine looked almost as nice till I raced it once! No wrecks just some runaway clobbered me. The platics poprivited now. Nice work!!!!

02-13-2006, 06:13 AM
i modified mine to be a brakelight...too many people running into my rear end...only had one person hit me since...

DieselBoy

how did you make your brake light work? I want to do that with mine.

02-13-2006, 12:45 PM
i got a kit off of ebay...here is the guys email addy...john at ok powersports (john@okpowersports.com) ...he has 2 kits...one is just the rear brakes and is about $35(it could be done way cheaper) and the other works from both front and rear brakes

here is his ebay link...400ex brake light conversion... (http://cgi.ebay.com/Honda-400EX-Add-a-Brake-Light-EASY-with-THIS-KIT_W0QQitemZ4613077143QQcategoryZ43974QQcmdZViewI tem)

and to the starter of this thread, watch out for those sur trak tires...i had run them on a 300ex and they ate my axle bearings in about 4 or 5 rides...

Well, its more than a quad to me, or just riding quads, its almost a way of life for me, powersports that is. I have been doing this in one form or another for quite a long time. When I moved from AZ to WA, I sold both of my 250R's and bought snowmobiles and a CR250. When I spent a year in Iraq I saved up my combat pay (and you can bet I friggen earned every penny) and got these two machines. Each one was way less than a new 400EX, so it does not take much money, but it does require cash if you get my meaning. Anything with a motor that is fast, loud and stinks like gas is cool as far as I am concerned. Some people tell me I should have gotton 450R's, but I am quite sure that these two machines compare pretty favorably with the new 450's.
JOEX, we should hook up and hit the dunes sometime soon. I have not been with either one of these machines yet, but I have been all over them on my CR. I think the OR dunes are awesome!
