I was just wondering what the value is for an old wheat penny. I've heard that they are worth a lot of money(like in the thousands) and I've heard that they are only worth a quarter or 50 cents. Do any of you guys know?

it all depends on the date and mint it was made in.... but most important is the condition it is in. take a few pics and let me kno the date and mint and i can try to let you know what ist is worth. most dates even in bint condition are only worth a few dollars, and the few dates and errors that are worth somthing are extreamely rare and if not in good condition know one will buy because most collectors who pay for indivigual coins are looking for that one coin in a certain condition or better ... never the less you could be in possesion of a coin worth a few hundred... it all depends

It has to be the 1943 Copper penny. Copper was rare at the time, so the chances of any surviving are limited.

Yeah, pennies were made with steel during that year:p . A few copper ones did make it out of the mint though and I have heard of them going for like 80 grand!

I've got a few steel pennies, wasn't there something about a 1943 dime that was different that year to ????
